Lubuskie voivodeship is located in west-central Poland. Fourteen border crossings ensure a suitable level of economic cooperation with neighbouring Germany. Timber processing including furniture production and paper making has been traditional sector of the voivodeship’s economy. The motor, chemical and food industries are also contributing to the region’s development. Zielona Góra, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Sulechów, Żary and Słubice are all important academic centres with significant scientific achievements.

The European Commission has approved further regional programs
The European Commission has approved the programmes connected to economic innovation and the development of Eastern Poland, together with five regional programmes – it was stated by the Commissioner for regional policy Ms Danuta Huebner

The unemployment rate still decreasing
The unemployment rate at the end of June has decreased to 12,4% from 13% in May - announced the Central Statistical Office. The Ministry of Labor predicts that in July the unemployment rate may decrease to 12,2%, in August – to less than 12% and at the end of the year to less than 10%.

The record number of PAIiIZ project
The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency has finished the first half of the year with a record number of services projects. The creation of 10,5 thousand new jobs and the inflow of investments estimated at 746 billion EUR are the most important effects of the realization of these projects.

Investments in the Kostrzyń-Słubice Special Economic Zone
The Kostrzyń-Słubice Special Economic Zone (KSSSE), has just gained three new investors. The firms: Ahrens Textile Service, Algontec Poland and HG Poland will together invest in the Zone close to 20 million EUR and create 120 workplaces.

Poland - European centre of TV sets production
In spring 2007 in Nowa Sól a plant of Funai Electric's Co. Ltd. TV sets will be set up. On the 2nd of November 2006 at the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency a letter of intention was signed between the Polish Government and the Japanese company.
