Lubuskie voivodeship is located in west-central Poland. Fourteen border crossings ensure a suitable level of economic cooperation with neighbouring Germany. Timber processing including furniture production and paper making has been traditional sector of the voivodeship’s economy. The motor, chemical and food industries are also contributing to the region’s development. Zielona Góra, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Sulechów, Żary and Słubice are all important academic centres with significant scientific achievements.
