Moody’s: Poland experiences a period of a strong economic growth

Upgrade of Poland’s rating is possible – assessed the rating agency Moody’s. It depends however on fiscal reforms.

The actual rating (A2) responds to the economic and fiscal situation of Poland after its accession to the EU, the advanced economic and financial integration of Poland with EU, as well as the dynamic economic development and proactive public debt management.

As the authors wrote in the report - Poland experiences a period of a strong economic growth, low inflation and intense inflow of FDI. - There are some obvious areas which need structural reforms such as the rural sector pensions, system of health protection, education, as well as social transfers - said Mr Jonathan Schiffer, Moody’s vice president.

Shiffer expects the government to focus on the reforms regarding the expenses of the budget. Moody’s counts also on the lowering of the PIT and CIT taxes. According to the prognosis of the agency, the GDP growth in 2008 will amount to 5,6% and the inflation rate 2,7%. (PAP, ISB)

ANALYSES AND REPORTS

Enterprise Europe Network – New help for the entrepreneurs

The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is a new net of over 500 contact points supporting entrepreneurs. The companies from the SME sector from the EU and even from outside its territory may count on this form of help.

There is a principle of not relegating the matters to other institutions.

With the new Enterprise Europe Network, the Commission is offering a ‘no wrong door’ solution, grouping all of the most important business services under a single roof, using the new technologies and engaging particular organizations within the framework of the new institution.

- I want to encourage all the entrepreneurs from the EU and outside it to use the net in a way that best suits their needs - said Günter Verheugen, the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Enterprise and Industry Enterprise Europe Network.

The new European net joins the merits of the former networks - Euro Info Centre and Innovation Relay Centre. Among the EEN tasks there will be first of all - to facilitate business activity (both in trade and investments) over the national boarders and create technological partnerships among the companies.

The EEN shall help the companies in searching for reliable partners, establishing contacts among the firms, supporting new ideas and exchange of innovative technologies. This should help the entrepreneurs entering the international market. The network will also deliver information about new legal norms coming into force, as well as about the EU funds and possibilities of using it especially in the area of research and development programmers. EEN will also have the role of intermediary in the communication between the EC and SME. The program is a part of an integrated EC policy for entrepreneurship support and the enterprise development in Europe.
