NEWS Invitation to the conference "Wind Energy in Poland" Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, the advisory firm Horwath TPA and the law firm Domański Zakrzewski Palinka invite for a press conference on wind power in Poland, which will be held on November 26 (Friday) at 11.00 AM at the PAIiIZ Information Centre, Bagatela 12, Warsaw.
Poland is in recent years experiencing enormous growth in the wind farms sector. This year is a record. For the first three quarters of 2010, the increase of power wind farms in Poland was as high as 51%. Therefore PAIiIZ, TPA Horwath and DZP, develop a second edition of the report, analyzing the state of the wind energy sector in Poland compared to other countries, which will be presented during the meeting. The press conference will be attended among others by the Ambassador of The Kingdom of Denmark - which is undisputed leader in the use of wind farms in Europe. (PAIiIZ) “Designed in Poland” in Leipzig The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the Polish Institute in Leipzig invite to an exhibition of modern industrial design from Poland - “Designed in Poland”. The exhibition will be open to public between December 1st-7th, 2010 in Bauwens-Haus, Burgplatz 2 in Leipzig.
The exhibition presents interior design elements, artistic and industrial glass, porcelain, jewellery, bikes and toys. The aim of the exhibition is to promote Polish modern industrial design and encourage German consumers to reach for products from Poland. An illustrated catalogue containing information about designers and producers will be distributed among the visitors. (PAIiIZ)
PAIiIZ conference: “Barriers to the inflow of foreign direct investments to Poland” During the conference we will present results of the survey “Investor Friendly Poland” and PAIiIZ observations on barriers to foreign investors doing business in Poland and will discuss suggestions concerning improvements in legislation.
The conference will be held on December 2nd, 2010 at the PAIiIZ Information Centre at 12:00 on Bagatela Street 12, Warsaw. "Qualified blue-collar employees - good investment for Poland" Education as a way of developing competences and not only professions and access to vocational schools were among the main topics of the meeting which took place in Warsaw on November 22nd, 2010.
During the conference "Qualified blue-collar employees - good investment for Poland" labour market experts, representatives of the Polish education system and employers discussed possible measures which could help educate greater numbers of specialist needed for the sustainable development of the Polish economy. In fact, Manpower’s survey shows that for the last three years qualified blue-collar workers have been ranked first in the ranking of the posts which are most difficult to fill. Among the panellist there were: Jadwiga Parada, Head of the Vocational Education Division at the Ministry of National Education; Jacek Męcina PhD, advisor at the Confederation of Polish Private Employers Lewiatan; Katarzyna Kołodziejska, Deputy President of the Vocational Training Institution in Kielce; Anna Polak-Kocińska, Deputy Director of the Economic Information Department at PAIiIZ and Katarzyna Daniek, Regional Director at Manpower Polska. The conference was organized by Manpower Poland and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency. (Manpower) Receiving applications for the fourth edition of the "Poland Promotion Now" competition has been finished From among 74 applications sent in this year 40 applications were accepted.
The Admissions Committee evaluated all the works taking into account assessment of the merits, accuracy and adequacy, methodology, innovation, originality, suitability for the practice and the possibility of continuing research. Authors of the best works can count on prizes tottaling PLN50000. In addition to financial rewards, participants can also get attractive placements and internships. The winning entries will have a chance of publication. The main organizer of the Competition is the Foundation for Polish Promotional Emblem. Co-organizers are the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, the Polish Tourism Organisation, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and the Agricultural Market Agency. The honorary patrons of the project are: Minister of Economy, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Sport and Tourism, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Minister of Regional Development, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Polish National Bank. Among many partners there are largest universities in Warsaw: Warsaw University, Warsaw School of Economics and Warsaw Agricultural University and the Stock Exchange, PGNiG and Deutsche Bank. Media patron is TVP Info. Results of this year's competition will be announced during a gala on December 6th, 2010. Conference dedicated to the role of young entrepreneurs in the development of Polish economy The conference took place between November 19th-21st, 2010 at the PAIiIZ Information Centre in Warsaw.
The meeting was opened by the Head of the Polish Sejm, Mr Grzegorz Schetyna. The first of a series of panels focused on the economic and civilisation challenges of the 21st century and was an occasioopn to discuss new common values which could constitute a set of reference for Poland and the Polonia. The panel was attended by: Longin Komołowski, MP and President of the Wspólnota Polska Association; Marek Ziółkowski, Deputy Head of Senat; Andrzej Grzyb, MEP and Wojciech Olejniczak, MEP.
The second day of the conference was opened by a speech delivered by the Head of the Polish PM Strategic Advisors, Mr Michał Boni - “Poland 2030 - place and role of the Young Polonia”. - We have just successfully closed 20 years of transformation. The project “Poland 2030” means that we have long-term plans about Poland, plans which include the next generation - said the Minister.
The next panel "Promotion of Poland and Polish culture abroad" aroused a lot of interest and a lively discussion. The panel was attended by: Katarzyna Sobierajska, The Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism; Monika Smoleń, The Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage; Waldemar D±browski, Head of the National Operahouse; Jan Borkowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and Krzysztof Przybył, President of the Teraz Polska Foundation.
Mr Jerzy Buzek - the President of the European Parliament, was the guest honor of the conference. In his speech “Modern Europe, Modern Poland, Modern Polonia” professor Buzek spoke about Poland’s history and culture and, at the same time, emphasised that Poles form part of the European nations community.
- We have to remember that we are Poles but must not forget that we are also Europeans - stressed the President of the European Parliament. The former Prime Minister discussed Poland’s economic successes, ways of promoting the country abroad and emphasised the importance and role young, educated Poles living abroad play in the development of Poland.
In the last in the series of panles “Enterprise, innovation, investment - Polish economy in the European and world context” panellists discussed Poland’s current position on the international scene and focused on the attractive features of the country and its people which have already been noticed and appreciated worldwide.
The panel consisted of: Sławomir Majman, President of PAIiIZ, Bożena Lublińska-Kasprzak, President of PARP; Magdalena Burnat-Mikosz, Partner at Deloitt; Jolanta Jaworska, Director at IBM; Dariusz Żuk, President of the Enterprising Poland and Rafał Baniak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy. (PAIiIZ) INVESTMENTS IN POLAND New 3M factory in Wrocław Construction of the new 3M factory has officially been launched. The project will cost EUR60 mln. The foundation laying ceremony was attended by Tony Stokes, Vice President and Head of the Automotive Division at 3M; representatives of the city administration and of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone.
The facility is another 3M's investment in Poland realised within the strategy of the European Production Centre creation. The project is planned to be finished by June next year and will be divided into several stages. Construction works of a production floor, equipment installation and employees trainings have already started. The estimated number of 50 new workplaces will be created in the facility by the end of 2012. At the moment the factory has been offering employment to 400 people and producing elements for ceramic catalytic converters and diesel filters for passengers cars, trucks and buses. Production process introduced in the factory is based on a new technology which is environment friendly and uses limited amounts of energy and water. Preparation and test of the technology took several years and have been conducted in 3M laboratories with active participation of a team from Poland. (3M Poland) New investment projects generate 82 jobs in the ŁódĽ Special Economic Zone Investors granted business activity permissions on November 16th, 2010 will jointly invest PLN43.4 mln and create new jobs.
VOXEL will open a new facility and start a production of new generation radiomedicine used in the cancer PET-CT diagnostics. The project is estimated to cost PLN21 mln and generate at least 30 new jobs. The facility will also run research and development projects. ISOPAK Poland will construct a package producing plant in the Radomsko sub zone. The company declared to invest PLN 12.2 mln and to create 16 workplaces. ISOPAK has 35 years of experience and ranks among leading polystyrene foam package producers in Europe. The Radomsko-based factory will deliver packages to other plants in the sub zone e.g. Indesit. CHEMIPACK is the first company which will invest in the Łowicz sub zone of the ŁódĽ Special Economic Zone. The company which has Polish capital will invest in Łowicz PLN6.250 mln. and create 16 jobs. In the facility the investing company plans to produce chemical products for domestic use e.g. soaps, shampoos etc. BILEX will construct a chassis production facility (production floors and warehouses) at the borders of the city of ŁódĽ and Konstatntynów Łódzki. 20 people will find employment in the new factory. Source: www.nbp.pl FROM THE REGIONS Pomeranian IAC - new quality in regional promotion Since 2008, Investor Assistance Centre in Gdansk (COI) has been engaged in the project “Promotion and Information System for Pomerania Voivodeship” project, which is aimed at conducting systematic activities for economic promotion of the region within the country and abroad in the years 2008-2012.
The Investing Attractiveness of Pomerania Voivodeship Analysis, currently under preparation, will be the project’s major output. The analysis will identify key sectors for development of foreign investments. Results will be based on research and analysis of the region’s economy - its strengths, weaknesses, major branches, business environment and will later on be compared with global economic trends and potential investor’s expectations and experience. The analysis will constitute a reference document for an upcoming marketing campaign of the Pomerania Voivodeship in Poland and abroad, which will be targeted at investors from strategic sectors, indicated in the analysis. Due to the fact that IAC runs madeinpomorskie.pl portal it has started a co-operation with, among others, Live&Travel Magazine and “Gazeta Bankowa”. It has been established that the most interesting articles from madeinpomorskie.pl are reprinted in the magazines. In September, Pomerania IAC representative has taken part in EXPO exhibition in Shanghai, where a presentation on economic advantages of the region was presented. The seminar was attended by Mr. Jiang Yiren, Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, the biggest commerce promotion organization in China. Representatives of Shanghai Construction Group, who has visited Pomerania last year, were also present at the presentation. What confirms that the construction giant, who has already completed such outstanding investments as transoceanic bridge, which links Ningbo and Jiaxing (and further with Shanghai) through Hangzhou Bay, or the first in the world commercial line of maglev train connecting Shanghai airport and city centre, has been interested in the region.
