Leżajsk to launch a new Industrial Zone “The Old Town-Park”

On December 6th a new Industrial Zone “The Old Town-Park” is to be officially inaugurated in Leżajsk. Future investors may expect to find modern factory shops, efficient infrastructure and good roads.

The Old Town-Park

In September 2006 an agreement on the construction of the first in the Podkarpacie voivodship, and the second in the whole of Poland, industrial park within a rural commune was signed - We assume that the park will enable the commune to enter into the 21st century with the help of UE funds. The park is expected to play the role of a development force for the region. Indeed we are almost neighbours with one of the most dynamically developing SEZs in Poland, I mean the zone in Mielec. - says Mr Mieczysław Tołpa, from the Leżajsk commune.

The project, which started in April 2007, envisaged the construction of three new factory shops and an adaptation of an old one, construction of roads, waterworks systems, energy and gas networks and sewage systems. The total cost of the project is to reach 21 million PLN. The majority of the costs is to be covered from UE funds and the rest will come from the national budget. While the zone A of the park is located in the vicinity of the Leżajsk brewery and a fruit and vegetables processing company “Hortino”, the B zone occupies a lot in Wierzawice. The investment is the biggest enterprise realised in the region of Leżajsk in the last 30 years and is bound to generate employment for over 400 people. It should not be forgotten that the unemployment rate in the region reaches 16%. The Park forms part of the EURO- PARK Mielec what will enable the investing companies to take advantage of tax relieves.- Mr Mieczysław Tołpa adds.

Already in March this year a factory shop in the B zone was put at the disposal of entrepreneurs and in August office space was also made available. In the A zone three factory shops were constructed for the use of future investors. The President of the Industry Zone “The Old Town-Park”, Mr Janusz Wylaź emphasises that the high quality of work in creating modern infrastructure was done by the local companies from the region of Podkarpacie. The President informed also that companies ready to invest in the zone have already showed up and the rest of prospective investors is to be selected in a contest - The investment process will have been completed by the end of November this year and the following month the project will be settled. - the President Wylaź envisages.

The Project was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund in the frame of the 1.3 measure of the Sectoral Operational Programme "Improvement of the Competitiveness of Enterprises, creating advantageous terms for company development.” (The OldTown-Park)

The millionth engine produced in the Tychy-based Toyota factory

In October the millionth engine left production line in the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland.

Assembling engines in the Toyota factory (Author: TMMP)

The production of the engine 1.0. designed for Toyota Solaris, Aygo, Citroën C1 and Peugeot 107 began in January 2005. The engine did not have to wait long to win users’ and experts’ acclaim and won the “Engine of the Year” contests for two consecutive years, i.e. in 2007 and 2008.

The engine underwent a variety of modifications aimed at reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission. Since the beginning of November the latest version of the engine has been installed in Toyota Yaris. In December this year the 1.0-litre engines, with further environment-friendly modifications, will start to be installed also in Toyota Aygo, Citroën C1 and in Peugeot 107.

Apart from engine production, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) has also been manufacturing manual and semi automatic gearboxes designed mainly for installation in the Toyota models manufactured in the concern’s European assembly plants. Additionally, in September a 6-speed gearbox started to be manufactured, a type which will allow both to limit the fuel consumption and pollution emission. The annual production capability of the factory accounts for 375 000 gearboxes. The Factory was opened on September 29th 2008 and Toyota has already invested 124 million EURO in the plant.
