Mission of Turkish Journalists
Within study visits organized by PAIiIZ, the representatives of Turkish media have arrived to Poland.

The journalists stay in Poland from 18th to 23th of August. Program of the visit includes meeting at the Parliament, the National Bank of Poland, the Ministry of Economy, Polish - Turkish Chamber of Commerce, Chancellery of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.


Meeting with Turkish journalists

The meeting at the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, with president Sławomir Majman, member of the Board Monika Piątkowska and director Iwona Chojnowska - Haponik was dedicated to the FDI in Poland, investment incentives as well as to Polish promotion in Turkey, including mission of Polish companies to Turkey organized by PAIiIZ.

Journalists represent major Turkish media: economic daily Dünya, news agency Anadolu Ajansı as well as television channels TRT and CNN.

The organization of media study visits to Poland is one of the main task of PAIiIZ. (PAIiIZ)

Delegation from Guangzhou at PAIiIZ
On 19th of August, the delegation from Guangzhou Pearl River Enterprises Group Ltd, led by Mr Yang Jiafeng chairman of the Labor Union, visited PAIiIZ.

The main subject of discussion was the real estate market in Poland, economic slowdown, applicable laws and average prices on the real estate market in Warsaw. The guests also learned about the development of hotel infrastructure and real estate financing methods.

The purpose of the visit was the presentation of the Polish commercial and residential real estate market. Guests have expressed their interest in the construction of hotel facilities for Chinese visitors in Poland and stressed their willingness to cooperate with Polish companies.

Chinese delegation from Shandong
Polish-Chinese cooperation, the situation of Polish economy and facilities available to Chinese investors in Poland were among the issues discussed during the meeting, held on 20th of August at PAIiIZ.

State-owned Assets Investment Holdings Co. Ltd., chaired by Vice Director Han Dapeng, operates mainly in financial sector.

The main subjects of the meeting were the investment opportunities in Polish market and facilitations for foreign investors. The guests emphasized constantly growing Polish-China cooperation i.a. two Chinese banks and law firms entrance of the Polish market last year. Guests expressed their interest in cooperation, not only in the financial sector.

Shandong State-owned Assets Investment Holdings Co. Ltd. is a state company which business scope includes: assets management, capital transactions, investment and financial services, state transactions management, trust operations, projects financing. (PAIiIZ)

New projects on PAIiIZ list
The Agency is currently working on 165 investment projects with total value of EUR 4831.06 mln which can create 31 613 new jobs.

Investors are mostly from: US (45 projects with total value of EUR 1137.15 mln which would create 9013 jobs), Germany (21 projects) and China (14 projects), followed by Switzerland (8 projects) and UK (7 projects). The most popular sectors are: BPO (42 projects, EUR 39,45 mln, 9737 jobs), automotive (28 projects), R&D (13 projects), food (10 projects) and logistic (8 projects).

PAIiIZ has already completed 31 investment projects this year with total value of EUR 632,6 mln, which will create 8 973 new jobs. (PAIiIZ)

Poland - great increase of production
The increase of 5,3 % makes Poland the second country in European Union in terms of growth of industrial production.

In June 2013 compared with June 2012, industrial production in European Union grew by 0.4%. Poland was the second behind Romania which registered an increase of 9,6%. Finland recorded the largest decrease (-5.9%).

In June, compared with May 2013 production in European Union increased by 0.9%, while in Poland by 3,1%. (EUROSTAT)

Poland recorded an increase in industrial production also according to the latest preliminary data of Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS). Compared with last year, Polish industrial production grew by 6,3%. Compared to June 2013, industrial production in July was higher by 1,5%. These data confirm a gradual recovery of the Polish economy. Furthermore, the average salary in Polish enterprises, compared with previous year, grew by 3,5. (GUS)

GDP and export rise
Poland's GDP grew by 0.8% y/y in the second quarter of 2013 than in the first quarter by 0,5% - Central Statistical Office (GUS) estimates.

According to GUS, price index of consumer goods and services in July 2013 increased by 0.3%, as related to June 2013. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the price of the average “basket of goods” rose by 1.1%. According to analytics, the reason of inflation is a higher cost of housing caused i.a. by an increases of garbage collection cost.

In the first quarter of 2013, Polish export rose by 2.8% and import fall by 5.3%. At the same time, the National Bank of Poland has published data of Polish export in euro, according to which, it rose by 7.1% compared to the same period of previous year, while import fall by 0.7%. The data confirm the positive impact of foreign trade on Polish economy. (GUS/KPRM)

China’s manufacturing growth higher than expected
July 2013, China’s industrial production grew by 9.7% and was higher than expected 9%.

Some analysts argue that China's economy already passed the worst period and the achievement of GDP growth at the level of 7,5% this year, projected by the government, becomes more real. (KPRM)

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

The new rules of supporting investors
The Council of Ministers adopted a resolution on amending the "Programme for Supporting Investment of Major Importance for the Polish Economy for 2011-2020".

The parameters of significant projects were lowered from PLN 1 billion in qualified costs and 500 jobs to PLN 750 million and 200 jobs or PLN 500 million and 500 jobs.

Support will also be given to production investments made at poviats where the unemployment rate is below 75% of the country's average, i.e., the provinces of Eastern Poland. It was proposed that in these locations investments guaranteeing 500 new jobs at the cost of PLN 500 million or 200 jobs at the cost of PLN 750 million will be made.

An important change is lowering of the requirement of minimum investment costs from PLN 3 million to PLN 1.5 million for the research and development (R&D) sector. Moreover, it will be allowed to support R&D projects as regards qualified investment costs. Support can also be given as regards qualified costs of investments worth at least PLN 10 million and creating at least 35 jobs for persons with higher education. (MG)

The borders of Special Economic Zones has changed
On 13 August, the Council of Ministers adopted the Regulation on amendments to the borders Kostrzyn-Słubice and Mielec Special Economic Zone.

Boundaries change includes: inclusion of terrain in Szczecin area for investments of Teleyard and its potential partners. Over 4.1 thousand jobs with capital investment of PLN 115 million can be created in this area. The extension of mielec Special Economic Zone will create around 1.8 thousand new workplaces, with total investment volume of PLN 750 million. (MG)

New permission in Mielec Special Economic Zone
In August, the Industrial Development Agency issued the permit for ABM Greiffenberger Polska for conducting economic activity in Lublin Special Economy Zone Subzone EURO-PARK in Mielec.

The ABM Greiffenberger Polska Ltd. was established by the ABM Greiffenberger (AG) in order to accomplish investing project in Mielec special economic zone. The core business of the company is the production of electric motors components and their assembly into a complete drive systems. The company will invest more than 21 million zł and employ 109 workers. Completion of the project is planned for 2014.

As part of this year licenses granted in Mielec Special Economic Zone, entrepreneurs declared capital expenditures of PLN 263.8 million and the creation of 445 new jobs. (ARP)

New investment in Starachowice Special Economic Zone
On 20th August 2013 a new permit for conducting economic activity in Starachowice Special Economic Zone was issued to Casmir Trade and Service company.

The company will focus on production of women’s underwear. The company Investment total expenditures will reach EUR 800 000 and will employ 30 new people. Investment completion is planned on 30th September 2014. This is the third license to operate in the Starachowice Special Economic Zone. (SSE Starachowice)

Hundredth permit in Piechowice
Modern production line, storage hall and logistic connector: WEPA Professional in Piechowice will invest around PLN 54 million over the next five years in Kamiennogórska Special Economic Zone.

WEPA operates in Miechowice subzone. WEPA is a major manufacturer of hygiene products and the biggest family company in European paper industry. Reinvestment will maintain the existing 340 workplaces and will create new ones. The ceremony of giving the hundredth permission will take place on 6th September 2013. (Moja multimedia)

Poland - Indonesia Economic Forum
On 4th September 2013, the Poland - Indonesia Economic Forum will be held at the Hyatt hotel in Warsaw.

The official opening of the Forum will be attended by the President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski and the President of Indonesia.

Among the invited guests there are the representatives of dozens of Indonesian companies and senior officials of government administration.

Indonesian companies are looking for partners mainly in following sectors: infrastructure, mining, renewable energies (power stations constructors), green technologies (biomass), tourism.

Polish companies interested in cooperation with Indonesian partners and willing to participate in the Forum are invited to register online before August 30, 2013 at: www.paiz.gov.pl/Polska-Indonezja. Companies operating in above mentioned sectors will have a priority in the registration process.

Promotion of Polish economy in Turkey
PAIiIZ invites Polish comapnies to participate in "Izmir International Fair" and "WORLD FOOD" Istanbul.

This year’s, 82nd edition of Izmir International Fair will take place between 29th August and 2nd September. The following industries will be presented this year: furniture, construction, decoration products, interior design, home appliances, construction machines, chemicals and petrochemicals, motorcycle accessories, agricultural machinery, electrical devices, consumer electronics, medical, rehabilitation and sport equipment, yachts, cosmetics, processed food products, textiles, services, finance, publishing houses.

The second event within the programme „Promotion of Polish economy in Turkey” is WORLDFOOD. 21st International Food Products & Processing Technologies Exhibition will take place between 5th and 8th September in Istanbul. The aim of this fair is to present food and agriculture industry as well as food processing technologies industry.

PAIiIZ organizes a mission for Polish entrepreneurs from the food industry.

DID YOU KNOW...?

The world’s biggest container ship has come to Gdańsk
On August 21 2013, the first Triple-E series ship, which can be loaded with 18 000 containers has come to Deepwater Terminal DCT in Gdańsk. This is the longest ship in the world. Its length reach 400 meters.

The Ship, operated by Danish Maersk Line, had arrived from South Korea and it was its first voyage. This unusual ships arrival strengthens the position of Gdańsk as a gateway to the Central - Eastern Europe and Russia. The terminal in Gdańsk is the only one on the Baltic side of Danish Strains which is able to accommodate container of this size. (DCT)

The first PENDOLINO has come to Poland
On 12 August 2013, new Pendolino train has finally come to Poland. This is the first high-speed train in the country - able to reach speed of 280 km/h.

Before Pendolino can be exploited, it has to receive the permission of the Railway Transport Office. In order to get it, the train has to be tested to confirm adjustment to the Polish railway infrastructure in all possible weather conditions. Pendolino will be publicly exploited in 2014/2015 and it will be running on routes connecting Warsaw, Tri-city, Cracow, Katowice, Wrocław.

At first, on the Warsaw - Coast route train will only reach 160 km/h. It will reach higher speed (200km/h) on routes connecting Warsaw with Wroclaw and Cracow. PKP Intercity bought 20 Pendolino trains. The total cost of the purchase was 400 million euro. (INTERCITY)
