Investors Club meeting
On July 11th the Investors Club meeting took place in in Sheraton Hotel. Deputy prime minister, minister of economy Janusz Piechociński took part in the event.

Investors Club meeting is a periodical event meant to create a platform for opinion exchange about investing in Poland between foreign investors and polish authorities.

During the meeting minister of economy declared, that a decision had been made by the government about Special Economic Zones, that will allow the zones existence till 2026.

Thanks to Special Economic Zones, Poland is an attractive state for investments location- deputy prime minister said, and also reminded that in 14 Polish Special Economic Zones investors are able to operate on special terms, such as attractive tax reliefs, employment facilities and well prepared investment sites. –These are supporting instruments that motivate to invest, especially during the economic slowdown- he added. Minister also mentioned the necessity to restore secondary technical education. (PAIiIZ/MoE)

Mobica starts cooperation with the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz
Software company Mobica became a partner of postgraduate studies faculty “Mobile technologies in control systems” at the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz.

Students will attend classes conducted by professionals from Mobica. After graduation participants will have an opportunity to work for the company. Cooperation includes one year “Mobile technologies in control systems” course, that started in November 2012. In the second semester Mobica employees will conduct classes developed especially for the course, providing them with practical knowledge of programming. A possibility to work on mobile devices will be an additional advantage.

Postgraduate students also have a chance to be employed in Mobica during the course. Every graduate, who will sign a permanent contract of employment with Mobica, will get a refund of PLN 1000 course costs.

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

Donaldson decides to build the air filters factory in Skarbimierz
Donaldson company, American car filters producer, decided to build its first factory in Skarbimierz.

It will be next plant of Donaldson in Europe and the first one in Poland. The filters manufactured in Opolskie will be provided to customers in Europe and Russia. In July 2012 investor obtained a permission to invest in Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone and purchased over 10 ha land in June 2013, with an assumption to extend the area in order to future development of the company. Donaldson will invest more than EUR 20 million and employ over 130 workers. The factory will manufacture air filters for heavy industry used in road as well as offroad vechicles. Pomorska Kolej Metropolitalna (Pomerania Metropolitan Railway)
On monday, 1st of July at Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airtport, official foundation stone laying ceremony of The Pomorska Kolej Metropolitalna took place. Construction of PKM is one of the most important infrastructure investments in Pomerania.

Government and voivodeship authorities took part in the ceremony, led by Sławomir Nowak, minister of transport.  Minister mentioned, that a decision had been made to increase support from the funds of the European Union for this investment up to PLN 105mln.

The Erection Act has been signed by official guests and walled up in a cornerstone. Most recognizable local newspapers: “Dziennik Bałtycki”  and “Gazeta Trójmiasto” as well as project documentation were also attached.

Engineer Janusz Kowalski, visionary, who was the one first to see the need of Metropolitan Railway in Pomerania, back in 1960’s, was invited as an honorable guest.

PKM will connect Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz to Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and will be further connected to already existing line Gdynia- Kościerzyna. Thanks to the Railway, a trip from Gdańsk or Gdynia to the Airport would last not longer than 25 minutes.  (Invest in Pomerania)

Production and Storage Hall Portowa 74 in Gliwice
Grand opening of SILS Centre production and storage hall took place on 27th of June in Gliwice.

The company is owned by Ferrostaal Automotive and Preymesser GmbH. Since 1999 it is active in sub-zone Gliwice of The Katowice Special Economic Zone and is a member of SILESIA AUTOMOTIVE and Silesian Logistics Cluster. A new, modern facility has the surface of 8000 m2 of warehouse and 1000 m2 of office space and is equipped with installation of a fire protection sprinkler system and skylights enabling the manufacturing process.

The Hall has been built for expansion of the company in the field of assembling of components for the automotive industry with supplied materials and designed to supply sequenced modules JIT (just in time) and JIS (just-in-sequence) to vehicle manufacturers.

Another reason is starting logistics activities.  At least 2000 – 4000 m2  is dedicated to a warehouse for unloading, storage and loading as well as assembly of the kits and other repackaging.

The opening ceremony was attended by about 120 guest of business, authorities, science and culture representatives.
The investment was supervised by Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency.(SILS Centre Gliwice)

"Redzikowo" Sub-zone
Official completion of the second stage of the investment “Improving lands for economic investments in the Słupsk Special Economic Zone Redzikowo-Wieszyno".

After many years of efforts of Słupsk Commune and Pomerania Agency of Regional Development the land has been improved and became one of the most attractive investment locations in Pomerania. The project contained rainwater drainage system with a total length of 1793.5 m, water supply system- 1423.5 m, sewage system- 315 m as well as roads and pavements with a total length of 1200m.

Total cost of the project, according to the contract for funding from European Funds is PLN 3 116 944,08. The same day, Euroledlighting Sp. z o.o.  received a permition number 92 to operate in sub-zone Redzikowo. Investor with Polish capital plans to build a LED lighting factory. The value of Euroledlighting investments is about PLN 4 million, and 25 people are to be employed. Currently the company operates in Słupsk Technology Incubator.

BPOland Potential and Prospects
On Tuesday, 30th of July, in PAIiIZ Information Center, a conference dedicated to the service sector in Poland will take place. The conference is organized by PAIiZ, CBRE and Hays.

During the meeting a publication BPOland Potential and Prospects will be presented, which concerns, among others, the best services center localizations as well as labour and real estate market in major Polish cities.

A discussion about current condition and future of Polish service sector will be an important part of the conference. Investors of BPO sector will participate in a discussion.

The conference will be held on June 30th 2013 from 11.00 am at the PAIiIZ Information Center, Bagatela 12, Warsaw. Simultaneous translation (English-Polish) will be provided by the organizers.

Meeting with entrepreneurs from Jilin
Center of Poland- China economic cooperation is organizing next meeting with Chinese Entrepreneurs. This time PAIiIZ will host a delegation from Chinese province Jilin.

Province Jilin is located in northeastern part of China with a capital city Changchun. The area equal to a half of Poland has 27 million inhabitants. Jilin’s economy grows rapidly in a double-digit pace. Gross domestic product per capita of USD 4668 ranks the province in 11th place among the richest provinces of China. Key sectors of Jilin’s economy are: automotive, railway and steel industry. Jilin is one of the leading grain producers in China with main cultivations of wheat, corn and sorgo. Province is also one of the leading plank producers made of wood from local forests, which gave the Jilin’s name, that means: “a happy forest”. The province has rich mineral resources, including China's largest shale gas reserves.

Jilin’s delegation consists of representatives of furniture, food, petrochemical, construction materials and railway industry.

Poland & Africa
Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and African Institute invite to a press conference about Poland cooperation possibilities with African states.

Conference will take place on 22th of July at 11.00 am at the PAIiIZ Information Center, Bagatela 12, Warsaw.

John Godson, member of Polish Parliament will be a special guest of the meeting.

Export - Direction of success
European Funds Information Point of Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency invites to “Eksport- kierunek sukcesu” (“Export - Direction of success”) conference.

The Main topic of the conference will be a presentation of possible support for entrepreneurs development by participating in fairs and trade missions as well as export development.

DID YOU KNOW...?

AeroTunel
The first vertical wind tunnel in Poland will be located in Poznańska street, on the boarder of Warszawa and Ożarów Mazowiecki, near the S8 expressway and the exit from the Mory transport node. AeroTunel is an investment of Aero Club Częstochowa.

AeroTunel will be a bulding where you can practice free fall skills, that’s is the state after jumping from the plane before opening the parachute. The building will look like a modern sculpture and will be around 40 meters  high and the air inside will circulate with the speed of 160-300 kilometers per hour.

The value of the investment is around PLN 18 million. Flying amateurs will be able to test their skills in the tunnel at the end of 2013. More information and news: www.aerotunel.com.pl. (PAIiIZ)
