Polish companies and China’s e-commerce market
Chinese e-commerce market is said to be one of the largest in the world. Moreover, it is developing extremely fast. Virtual trade is seen as an ally by the Chinese government. Therefore, such positive attitude affects the process of internal reforms in the country.

The Chinese prefer to shop in domestic online stores and one of the most popular shopping website is called Taobao. There are 450 million Internet users in China - at least 300 million from the middle class.

E-commerce in China is currently undergoing a rapid development. China still remains the world’s biggest e-commerce market with a 90% of total market share of Chinese B2C sector. About 200 million of Chinese make online purchases and nearly 85% of them pay for it online by specialised online payment companies. In 2010, due to the level of achieved turnover, Chinese e-market was worth about RMB 460 billion. According to experts from Bain&Company, in 2015 Chinese e-commerce market can reach a staggering number of RMB 150.000 billion (almost PLN 750 billion).

Poland and Turkey - joined by innovation
Poland and Turkey have a lot in common: a large internal market, a strong economy, a resistance to the crisis and young, well educated population. Do two countries also share the same attitude towards innovation? On 15 November the Warsaw Stock Exchange hosted a debate on the importance of innovation in the financial and telecommunications sectors of Polish and Turkish economy.

- Poland has become a leading European BPO centre. We started with call centres, which currently predominate in the Turkish BPO sector. Today, Polish IT centres offer much more advanced services - said PAIiIZ deputy president Monika Piątkowska, during the debate.

In 2007 the Turkish government decided that, one of the country’s long-term economic goal is achieving the status an international financial centre. In 10 years, Istanbul is expected to predominate in the region, and within 30 years Turkey is supposed to be one of the fifth or sixth most important financial centres in the world.

Qatari bank in PAIiIZ
On 14 November PAIiIZ hosted a business meeting on investment opportunities in Poland and Qatar.

Participants were talking about business plans for Doha Bank as cooperation with this institution may contribute to the strengthening of relationship between Polish and Qatari companies in the future.

The meeting was organised in occasion of a planned visit of Polish president Bronisław Komorowski in the Gulf countries.

YES for Dubai
Dubai plays a significant role in the global economy, as a financial and transit centre. According to the decision of the Polish government, Poland officially supports the candidacy of Dubai to host World Expo 2020. Voting will be held on 27 November at the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris.

The main topic of the incoming Expo proposed by Dubai is "Connecting Minds, Creating The Future". It reflects the idea that human imagination and creativity as the best ways for global progress and peaceful coexistence.

If Dubai becomes the World Expo 2020’s venue, it would be the first such high-level, global event in the region of Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

Campgemini increases employment
By the end of next year, Capgemini will create about 150 new jobs for programmers and engineers in Wrocław.

Capgemini Poland plans to develop Wrocław Software Solutions Centre. This unit provides R&D services. The centre develops, tests and implements an advanced IT software that is used by renowned global brands form automotive, finance, transport and the media. (Capgemini)

Renewable energy in Poland
The Fifth Wind Energy in Poland report will be presented at a press conference held on 22 November at 10.00 at PAIiIZ Information Centre.

The Wind Energy in Poland report by TPA Horwath, PAIiIZ and BSJP presents the latest information on the wind energy market, changes in the regulatory environment, including the support system for renewable energy sources, the greatest barriers to investment and industry outlooks.

Promotion of Polish design in Rome

Pieces of Polish school of design, which are appreciated all over the world, will be presented at the exhibition entitled "Designed in Poland" held on 25 - 30 November in Alberto Sordi gallery in Rome.

The exhibition aims to highlight the uniqueness of the art of Polish jewellery and Polish modern design, as the contemporary Polish art raises its popularity all over the world. 

Every visitor of the exhibition will learn more about Polish art from catalogues available at the event. In addition, the contest for the most amazing sample of Polish design will be organised. 

The exhibition was prepared by PAIiIZ and the Department of Promotion of Trade and Investments of the Polish Embassy in Rome.

POLANDAFRICA - 2013
Central Chamber of Commerce - Łódź in cooperation with African Institute and PAIiIZ under the patronage of the Parliamentary Team on Africa invites to the Congress of Partnership and Cooperation POLANDAFRICA 2013, that will be held on 26-27 November 2013 at Hilton hotel in Łódz.

The congress will be opened with the plenary session entitled "Poland-Africa, perspectives for partnership-based cooperation” with participation of the Polish government, ambassadors of African countries, local authorities and economic organisations and entrepreneurs from Africa and Poland.

Poland as a logistics hub: trade and investment opportunities
PAIiIZ together with British-Polish Chamber of Commerce invite you to a two-day conference entitled Poland as a logistics hub, held on 26 November in the Polish Embassy in London and on 27 November in PAIiIZ, in Warsaw. Both events start at 9.30 a.m.

Participants of the event including the representatives of logistic companies will be looking at the size, scope and location of these investment opportunities on the logistics map of Europe.

Two coincides events will be held in English.

Polish-Mexican trade and investment seminar
On 26 November will be held Polish-Mexican business meeting in Wrocław.

The conference will be held on promotion of the economic relations between Poland and Mexico.  Panelist will also discuss the ways of support for Polish companies interested in expansion of the Mexican market.

Polish-Japanese cooperation in the energy sector
On 28 November at 10.00 the Japanese Embassy in Warsaw will host a conference dedicated to the development of Polish-Japanese cooperation in the energy sector.

The conference is addressed to representatives of Polish cities and communities as well as to companies representing the energy sector in Poland. During the seminar, experts from Hitachi and Mitsubishi together with Japan's renewable energy agency NEDO will present their experience in implementing smart grids. Case studies form the Japanese renewable energy sector will be also discussed.

Laurel of Innovation 2013
On 26 November, during the conference entitled Innovation as a condition of Polish economic development, Laurel Innovation 2013 ceremony of awards will be held.

Investment attractiveness of Polish provinces
The Investment attractiveness of the regions report is an annual publication prepared for PAIiIZ. The latest edition of the report will be presented on 28 November at 12.15 in PAIiIZ.

This report presents the investment attractiveness of 16 Polish provinces and the impact of their investment offer on companies’ decisions to start doing business in each region. This year, for the first time, economic changes that have occurred in the recent years has been taken into account in the report.

The Investment attractiveness of the regions report was prepared by the Center for PAIiIZ by Regional and Local Analyses.  The list of speakers includes representatives of PAIiIZ and the School of Economics’ experts.

Lublin - Gateway to Eastern Markets
„Lublin - Gateway to Eastern Markets” this is the topic of the conference on macroeconomic situation and the advantages of Lublin and Eastern Poland as investments destinations.  The event is held on 28 November at 11.00 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Warsaw.

The Eight Conference of the Independent Automotive Market will be held on 28 November at the Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel in Warsaw. PAIiIZ, Ministry of Transport Construction and Maritime Economy and the Ministry of Economy took patronage over the event.

Trade mission to Morocco
Polish Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with PAIiIZ invite Polish entrepreneurs to take part in a trade mission to Morocco, which will be held between 27 November and 1 December this year.

The mission aims to present Polish export offer and to establish contacts with potential Moroccan partners. Participation in two business forums in Rabat and Casablanca is provided. B2B meeting with Moroccan companies and representatives of local government will be also arrange. Moreover, participants will take part in an economic meeting in Marrakech and have a chance join the official opening of the Polish Trade Office in Casablanca.

Industrial production in Poland
September was the most productive month in Polish industry in recent decades.

Polish production recorded a 5.6 % increase compared with the same month in 2012, when as in August, the year on year it reached 2.9%. In September this year, industrial production of the EU rose by 1.2% Y/Y and fell by 0.2% M/M.

In the third quarter of 2013 the highest increase among EU countries was registered in Ireland, Slovakia and Romania. (Eurostat)

GDP growths
According to Polish Statistic Office (GUS), there has been an increase of Polish GDP by 1.9% in the third quarter of 2013.

In the previous quarter, Polish economy grew by 0.8%. In the third quarter of 2013, seasonally adjusted GDP (in constant prices, referring to 2005) increased in real terms by 0.6% comparing to the previous quarter and was higher than the previous year by 1.7%.

According to GUS’s preliminary data, the value of Polish exports goods after three quarters was estimated at a level of €112,9 bilion. Moreover, it was higher than the previous year by 6.3%. On the other hand, imports decreased by 0.3% to €113, 8 billion. Goods deficit was reduced to €0.9 billion. Recently, it had a value of  €8 billion. (MG / CSO)

FROM THE REGIONS

Miami linked with Rzeszów
Miami International Airport and Poland’s Rzeszów-Jasionka International Airport signed a marketing agreement, that was brokered by Polish-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida and the Americas.

The cooperation has been designed to expand passenger and cargo connections between the two hub airports. The other objective of the cooperation includes promotion of a planned Polish trade warehouse in Miami. It will also help to promote the presence of Polish companies at the Camacol 2014 congress, during which Polish companies will have the opportunity to present their offer among 22 Latin American countries.
