Investors’ Race
Investors’ Race was organized for the second time in a row by the Investors Assistance Center of the Marshal’s Office of West Pomerania Province, together with the Kostrzyn - Slubice Special Economic Zone.

On Thursday afternoon 26 sailors out of 60 foreign investors and exporters operating in the area of West Pomerania competed against each other for a prize on five Tom 28 Max boats on Dąbie lake.

The race was won by the team led by Christoph Wellendorf (Bilfinger Crist Offshore): Adam Ryniak (Cargotec), Krzysztof Krawczyk (HKL), Søren Jylling (Alto) and Gabriela Wiatr (the Marshal’s Office of West Pomerania Province). (West Pomerania Investors Assistance Center)

OECD Eurasia Ministerial Conference
OECD Eurasia Ministerial Conference “Implementing Policies for Competitiveness in the Eurasia Region” took place in Warsaw on 28 June 2013, organised by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency.

Representatives of the OECD member countries, European countries, as well as high-level representatives from countries which participate in the OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Programme, that is Central Asia (Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and Eastern Europe and South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine), took part in the conference. The debate organised during the conference was moderated by Sławomir Majman, President of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency.

OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Programme was created in 2008 by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in order to boost competitiveness in Eurasia and strengthen the cooperation between OECD members countries and Eurasia partner countries. (MG/PAIiIZ)

Slupsk Technology Incubator awarded
On 25 June Slupsk Technology Incubator was awarded third prize at “Best construction in 2012” contest.

The contest was organised by the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians, together with the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy and the General Office of Building Control in order to award establishments with outstanding realization results.

The awarded building is a Class A+, two-storey office building with driveway, parking area and utility building situated in the Slupsk Special Economic Zone. The establishment was officially opened in October 2012.
The building is equipped with new systems and technologies, such as gas absorption heat pumps, solar panels, air conditioning or heat recovery ventilation.

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

Pasta Food Company to build a factory in Opole
On 26 June a ceremony of laying a cornerstone for the Pasta Food Company factory took place in Opole. The project worth PLN 80 billion is the largest investment to be realised in the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone.

Pasta Food Company is a joint venture of Stefano Toselli and Ter Beke. The investor will produce and sell frozen lasagna on the Polish market as well as in Central Europe.

The company decided to locate the factory in Poland due to the weak impact of the recession on the Polish economy.
The decision regarding company’s location in Opole is a result of the scale of the Polish consumer market, numerous skilled workforce and business-friendly environment.

Marc Hofman, CEO of Ter Beke, also underlines such factors as great support from the authorities of Opole and the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone (WSSE), as well as the strategically and logistically convenient location.

The company plans to complete the factory building in April 2014 and the production should start in June 2014. Pasta Food Company is planning to create 50 new jobs in the first phase of the investment. (PFC)

CD Projekt in Krakow Special Economic Zone
At today's ceremony in Włocławek with the participation of the Belgian Ambassador, President of Włocławek and representatives of local authorities, Solvay launched the construction of a new, ultra-modern plant for the production of Highly Dispersible Silica - HDS.

About twenty people, who should start working on a brand new production, are to be employed in a new studio. It is the next video games-related investment in Krakow Technology Park, after the largest games website in Poland gry-online.pl and the following video games studios: Reality Pump, Ganymede, Teyon and Artifex Mundi. EUROBENEFITS - Share your story
The Ministry of Regional Development together with TVN television network have announced a contest titled Eurobenefits - Share your story (Eurokorzyści - podziel się swoją historią).

The aim of the contest is to present examples of changes that took place thanks to the European Union funds. Description of the projects, together with interesting individual stories need to be sent in between 15 June 2013 and 25 July 2013.

The prize for the winner is a trip to European capital cities for two persons worth up to PLN 20 000.

Trade missions and trade fairs of Polish companies in Turkey
Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency is organizing economic missions in Turkey connected with participation in trade fairs. There is a possibility of funding the participation.

Polish companies which decide to take part in the missions will have the opportunity to present their products and services at a national stand during the following fairs: Izmir International Fair 2013,  World Food - International Food Products & Processing Technologies Exhibition, Cebit Bilisim Eurasia and International Health Tourism Exhibition. B2B meetings of Polish and Turkish companies and business seminars will also be organised.

The volume of aid for entrepreneurs to participate in the promotion programme of a general nature under Submeasure 6.5.2 OP may not exceed 75% of the costs eligible for aid. Teraz Polska Promocja
A competition for the best master's thesis on the promotion of Poland - „Teraz Polska Promocja” (Poland Promotion Now) was launched for the seventh time in a row. The winners will receive cash prizes with a total value of PLN 50,000, publications, internships and trainings. The essays can be submitted until October 18, 2013.

Foundation for Polish Promotional Emblem "Teraz Polska", the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, Polish Tourist Organization and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development organize competition for the seventh time. The subject is widely understood promotion of Poland.

The winners will receive the main prize, founded by the organizers, as well as special prizes. Fragments of the winning works will be published in the e-Book "Teraz Polska Promocja".

Open’er Festival
The Opener Festival is taking place in Gdynia from the 3rd to 6th July in Gdynia for the 11th time.

Fans of good music gathered at one of the biggest music festivals in Poland will have the opportunity to participate in almost one hundred concerts.

Among the performers there will be world famous bands, such as Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, BLUR, Queens of the Stone Age, Nas, Editors, The National, Crystal Castles and Animal Collective.

Polish musicians shall be represented by Maria Peszek, Dawid Podsiadło and others.

Apart from the concerts, participants will also have the possibility to attend other events, such as festival theatre, "Projection Propaganda Machine" showing the best experimental films from Polish 20th and 21st century artists, Open’er art gallery, Silent Disco and many more. Another attraction is Rihanna's concert on July 7th  (at no extra cost for persons with 4-day tickets). (Opener.pl)

WIHE 2013 - Hospital -  International Healthcare Exhibition in Warsaw
Between 1st and 3rd October 2013, International Healthcare Exhibition WIHE 2013 will take place in The Warsaw International Expocentre EXPO XXI.

The exhibition aims to present the latest achievements of medicine, the newest medical technologies and solutions. During the fair companies will present medical equipment for Medical imaging, cardiology, surgery, anesthesiology and Intensive care medicine, as well as the latest offers of IT solutions providers, and operating theatres equipment.

Poles on holidays
According to the opinion poll conducted by rynekpracy.pl, 40% of respondees have planned to stay on their holidays for a period of 8 up to 14 days, and 17% chose to go on a one week long vacation.

The results in these groups are almost exactly the same as the ones from a similar survey conducted last year.
Almost a quarter of responders declared no holidays plans this year, what makes a 4 percentage points decrease in this group compared to 2012. A slight change can also be observed among employees planning to go on a holidays longer than two weeks - there was a 5 percentage points growth within this group.

Polish inventions awarded at INPEX Trade Show
Polish scientists won three gold medals with honours, eight gold medals and five special awards at at INPEX, the Invention and New Product Exposition. INPEX is the largest US Invention Trade Show organised for the 28th time.

Gold medals with honours went to Poland in following categories:  Medical invention, education, safety&security. Polish Security Printing Works was awarded in safety&security category for passport paper prodution technology .The special „INNOVATOR CUP INPEX 2013” award was also given to PSPW.

In the Education category, gold medal with honours was given to the Warsaw University of Technology for program of thermal analysis to support the design of composite materials with enhanced thermal conductivity- TERMET CAE.

Gold medal with honours for medical invention was awared to doctor Jacek Nocon, a dentist working in Gemany. Jury appreciated his material, a bone substitute, to be used as dental implant as well as in orthopedics and traumatology.

The following Polish institutions can be found among gold medal winners: Central Research and Design Institute of Opencast Mining POLTEGOR, Road and Bridge Research Institute, Warsaw University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, VOICE LAB, Mossakowski Medical Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences and Malopolskie Centre for Renewable Energy Sources "BioEnergia”.
