BSS Index: A handy source of information on BSS FDIs in Poland
For more than 15 years the BSS sector, within which the investments like BPO (Business Processing Operation), Call Contact Center, SSC (Shared Services Centers), IT, R&D and KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) may be defined, has been growing. Nowadays, it is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Polish economy.
PAIH and Pro Progressio, founders of BSS Index, have been involved in developing this sector and have been analysing the dynamic expansion of modern service sector in Poland for years. „We are the regional leader, not only in terms of number of centres but also in terms of employment. The sector employs nearly 280.000 people and the growth rate exceeds 10% each year. There is almost 1.250 BSS centres in Poland and new ones are open on a monthly basis” – Krzysztof Senger, Vice Executive President of PAIH, stresses.
„Data mapping of the Polish BSS sector is our main goal” – Wiktor Doktór, the President of Pro Progressio Foundation, says. For years the foundation has been asked about the number of BSS projects in Poland, but there was no comprehensive source of such data. „Despite having reports, we lacked one and simple system showing the number of BSS centres. We came up with BSSIndex.com as the result of publishing Focus on reports and creating Best2Invest.org platform. Right after launch, we have noticed the tool became quite popular” – he explains. Doktór points out that the commitment of such a strong and reliable partner as Polish Investment and Trade Agency was essential for the project.
How does the BSSIndex.com work? The platform contains data concerning BSS investment projects that were supported by PAIH. „Annually, around 50 new BSS centres are opened and half of them are supported by PAIH” – Krzysztof Senger explains. –„As of half of June we had 57 active BSS projects. We hope that by the end of the year we will have completed 20 of them” – Senger adds. Investors and local Investor Service Centres are the sources of information too. „We also use data produced by Pro Progressio Club members and companies we work with”- Doktór adds.
