Poland the top UE destination in FDI

335 foreign direct investment projects were launched by investors in 2017 in Poland - fDI Markets reports. Due to the investors’ activity in the previous year, 86.743 new jobs have been created in the country, that makes Poland the leading UE state in this category. The fDI Markets data also shows that the total value of FDI projects established in Poland last year reached EUR 12.893 bn. It is the second best result in the European Union.
Investors activity in 2017 in Poland was exceptional. According to the fDi Market analytics, the  number of FDI projects increased from 272 to 335 within just a year time. It’s worth noticing that both, the stock invested in Poland as well as the number of new jobs doubled during this period (52% and 48%, respectively).
Construction has generated the highest number of total jobs and greatest number of investment (69). Software and IT was the second (38) while automotive the third (21) most active sectors in investment.

“Such good results has not been achieved by Poland for, at least, ten years, when the global economic crisis broke” - says Tomasz Pisula, PAIH president. Today, Poland attracts more investment projects than in 2007. It was the year when the number of FDI was higher than 300, for the first time in the history. So 335 projects and EUR 12.8 bn of capex and over 86.000 new job definitely are astonishing results”, Pisula argues. As he adds that 2008 was a record breaking year in terms of investment inflow to Poland. Over ten years ago investors announced implementation of 387 projects in Poland worth EUR 23 bn in total and generating over 110.000 new jobs in the country.

Pisula also says that 2017 was also successful regarding the activity of Polish companies as foreign investors. “ fDI Markets reports that last year, the Polish investors declared the will to create 6.500 new jobs within the project run overseas. And once again, I must say that I have not seen such numbers for, at least, ten years”, head of PAIH argues.

The total value of Polish foreign investment reached EUR 1.14bn in 2017. “We would like PAIH to be a power horse of investment provided by the Polish business in a distant markets. Due to that PAIH is now developing a net of Foreign Offices in countries with the fastest development economies”, Pisula stresses. According to him, by the end of 2018 PAIH is expected to have even 70 offices all over the globe.  (PAIH)
