NSK Steering Systems Europe and University of Applied Sciences in Wa³brzych to launch dual studies
University of Applied Sciences in Wa³brzych (PWSZ) and Japan-based NSK Steering Systems Europe are to launch dual logistics studies. The agreement was signed on January 18. – This kind of approach to higher education guarantees development of human resources that are actually needed by business, it is also the implementation of Strategy for Responsible Development – Tomasz Pisula, head of Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) argues.
The studies will take 3,5 years, while 2 years will be spent working for NSK. The offer of academic year 2017/2018 is addressed to logistics second year students who are to complete the third year. – We have noticed that vocational schools and universities of technology are more open to strengthening ties with business and launching dual studies. Universities from Silesia and Zaglebie are the leading centres. Aviation Valley in Sub-Carpathian region is also where business meets science, as investors based its operation on cooperation with academic facilities – Pisula adds.
Since mid-90’s the number of vocational school graduates has extremely diminished. In 1995 vocational students made up for 30% of first year high school student in total, whereas in 2013 the share amounted to only approx. 17%. Dual education is featured in Strategy for Responsible Development as the key element of adjusting education to the business requirements.
