Volkswagen to expand factory in Poland

One of PAIH major clients, Volkswagen Poznań, is to reinvest in Antoninek (Wielkopolskie voivodship). The company will expand production hall and build a welding. According to the car maker, the CAPEX is to total EUR 200m in case of this investment and EUR 450m in years 2018-2019. Volkswagen is also planning to launch production of its new car – Caddy 5, in Poland.

The German car maker estimates that the production volume could increase form 238.000 in 2017 to 300.000 units yearly, once  the Września-based factory is fully operational. In addition, due to the expansion of the manufacturing plant in Antoninek (near Poznań), production of new car, Caddy 5 will be launched in 2020. In years 2018-2019 the CAPEX is to total EUR 450m, company also said.



Nearly one in three FDI projects concluded by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency last year represented automotive sector and the total stock amounted to EUR 1.4bn. Interestingly, in 2017, Korean LG Chem and Japanese Toyota announced some significant reinvestments. The Volkswagen’s decision to increase its CAPEX here confirms that foreign investors enjoy Poland's stable investment climate, additionally, they are eager to let Polish employees work on their new products – Krzysztof Senger, PAIH vice-president, comments.
