Borgers enters Poland

Automotive manufacturer Borgers AG opened its first factory in Poland. From 24 August, car interior fittings will be manufactured by this German company in Złotoryja (Dolny ¦l±sk). Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) has supported the investor in the implementation of the project in Poland.

Headquartering in Bocholt (North Rhine -Westphalia), Borgers, has 24 branches worldwide, including Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, United States and China. In 2015, the German manufacturer lunched a second factory in USA. Meantime, it had also decided to implement its next European production project. Except Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia were taken into account by the investor. Eventually, Borgers had chosen Poland.

“For Borgers, next location in Central-Eastern Europe, is a logical moves that meets the expectations of our customers and makesthe company’s network of plants stronger”, says Krzysztof Bramowski, procurement officer of Borgers Polska Sp. Z.o.o.

For the investment, the localization consulting services in Poland had been entrusted to PAIH. “Due to the business potential of Borgers and the specific nature of its investment project, the Agency has recommended the investor plots of specified parameters in five voivodships primarily chosen by Borgers: in Opolskie, ¦l±sk, Dolny ¦l±sk, Lubuskie and Zchodniopomorskie. PAIH has also mediated in the preliminary talks with local governments and economic zones”, - explains PAIH President Tomasz Pisula.

During spring 2015, the Agency arranged meetings with local governments of the chosen areas and then, organised and assisted the investor in site study visits. The best offer has been made by the local government of Złotoryja and the Legnica Special Economic Zone. The choice of this location has been impacted by the access to adequate human resources, proximity to other motor manufacturers and to the A4 highway.

“We appreciate a very good cooperation and support from PAIH and the Legnica Special Economic Zone, as well as from the local authorities, including the Marshall of the Lower-Silesian Voivodship”, Krzysztof Bramowski added.

At least EUR 51 m has been invested in the new Borgers’ project. The company’s first production facility was built in less than a year. In the first stage, a new production hall has been established, where 150 people will find place to work. By the end of the investment, which is planned to be developed in 5 years, 600 new workplaces there will be created.
