PAIH receives a Polish flag from President Andrzej Duda

On 2 May, during the Poland’s Flag Day, president of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda honoured people  playing a key role in Polish diaspora. He also handed out Polish flags to Polish organisations and institutions. The white-red flag went to president of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Tomasz Pisula who took part in the ceremony in Warsaw.

People merited for their work for the Polish Diaspora were presented orders by president of Poland, Andrzej Duda at the ceremony which took place in Belvedere Palace, in Warsaw. Among honoured people there were: Małgorzata Zajączkowska; priest Leszek Kryża, Stanisław Poźniak, Elżbieta Baczewska and Gabriela Baczewska- Pazda.

"Distinctions are a symbol of gratitude from the Republic of Poland for your beautiful life, for your beautiful activity and for what you do for Poland", president Andrzej Duda said at the Belvedere Palace. The president stressed that 2 May united two elements. "It unites exceptional reverence and joy coming from our white and red colours with our great community, part of which we all are", Duda explained.

Later, Mr Duda presented Polish National Flags to eighteen Polish organizations operating in the country and abroad, including: Dom Miłosierdzia (The House of Mercy) in Gródek Podolski in Ukraine, Polish Catholic Mission in Paris,  Muzeum Żołnierzy Wyklętych i Więźniów Politycznych PRL (Museum of Doomed Soldiers and Political Prisoners), general Anders’ Polish School in Italy, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gietrzwałt and the Nadbużański Border Guard Regional Unit. Also the Polish Investment and Trade Agency received the Polish National Flag. It was presented by the head of state to Tomasz Pisula, the Agency’s president of the Board.

The Day of the Polish Diaspora was established by the Polish Sejm (lower house) in 2002. The Day of the Flag was established in 2004. (PAIH/ PAP)
