Poland’s an excellent location for domestic appliance factories. The companies which have invested in Poland are continually developing their production lines and the majority of the products from the country’s plants are exported. Most of the world’s domestic appliance firms have already invested in Poland.

Why have corporations from the domestic appliance sector chosen Poland? The greatest of our country’s assets are the favourable packages of investment incentives, strong support from local government, sites prepared for investment and the high skills levels of the workers. Also many firms have decided that due to our location at the heart of the continent, Poland is a very attractive place for developing production assigned for export. Not to be forgotten is the large domestic market - 12 million households that need washing machines, fridges and dishwashers.

Strengths of the domestic appliance market in Poland:

  • Large rate of absorption,
  • Excellent geographic location,
  • Strategic market,
  • Bridgehead for expansion to the East.

This is why for some years there have occurred large foreign investments that have both bought and constructed production plants. The world’s leading companies in the sector have located themselves here, including:

  • BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeraete GmbH
  • Electrolux
  • Fagor Electrodomesticos Group
  • Indesit Company
  • LG
  • Samsung Electronics
  • Whirlpool

According to the data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO), in 2008 exports of washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, dryers, and cookers reached a value of PLN 4.92 billion. Cookers accounted for 26% of the export (PLN 1.25 billion), washing machines for 23%, dryers 21%, dishwashers 18% and refrigerators 12%.

Among the many domestic appliance companies operating in Poland, there are also native companies competing in foreign markets. Amica is the largest Polish producer of domestic appliance articles and sells app. 40% of its production on 40 different foreign markets. Another Polish manufacturer is Zelmer - a significant producer of vacuum cleaners on the world market.
