Johnson Controls to invest in Siemianowice

American Johnson Controls group will construct a plant in Bańgów, district of Siemianowice Śląskie. The value of investment is estimated to amount at EUR 35 million. 900 people will be employed.

The commencement of works at American investment is expected over the next few weeks. Johnson Controls group has already acquired a 6-ha-plot in the territory of Katowice Special Economic Zone. On the purchased area a production facility of metal elements for automotive industry (parts of seatings, car bodies and control panels) will be constructed. Production activity should begin in Siemianowice in 2006.

In May 2006 roughly 200 people will be employed in the new plant. With the support of EU funds, Labour Office of Siemianowice is going to trainee unemployed according to the requirements of Johnson Controls. There is a high possibility for them to find a job in the new factory. Represents of American investor informed, that they envisage the employment to eventually reach the level of 900 people. It is excellent information for Siemianowice, where the unemployment rate stands at 26,6% (5866 people is unemployed). "Perspective of creating 900 new jobs for our citizens is of immense significance for us. Therefore we decided to support investor by constructing an intersection with a drive way to KSEZ. The investment outlays of local authorities at this project will amount to PLN 1 million", said Dariusz Bochenek, Vice President of Siemianowice Śląskie.
