The Bydgoszcz Song and Dance Ensemble visited the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai at the invitation of the Bureau of the Commissioner General of the Polish Section on EXPO 2010.
The group consists of singing dancers and a band. Representatives of the region were invited to China by the City of Ningbo in the Zhejiang province. Ningbo is a port city situated on the East China Sea. Since December 2005 it has been a partner city of Bydgoszcz. During its Chinese concert tour the Bydgoszcz Song and Dance Group performed in Ningbo and several surrounding cities. At the World EXPO the group appeared twice - in front of the Poland Pavilion and on the Main Stage.

- We have been experiencing a wonderful hospitality here. Chinese people react lively when they see our performance. For them it’s completely different folklore - said the director of the Bydgoszcz Song and Dance Ensemble El¿bieta Kornaszewska. - The beauty of our girls and boys attracts numerous audience. After performance the Chinese willingly take photos with the group members. We came to China with traditional dances from our region - from the region of Kujawy and dances from £owicz and ¯ywiec - adds El¿nieta Kornaszewska. The group brought to China dresses which weight over 300 kg. At the end of every performance the ensemble sings a traditional Chinese song “Molihua”.
The Bydgoszcz Song and Dance Ensemble has been staying in China from June 29th to July11th, 2010.
