Established in 1997, the area assigned to the Starachowice Special Economic Zone is located in the central-eastern part of Poland. Its total area is 14 209.41 km2, it covers 3 Voivodeships: the Świętokrzyskie, Mazowieckie and Lubelskie, 17 Poviats and 129 Communes. The Starachowice SEZ's favorable location, between several large urban agglomerations, such as Krakow, Warsaw, Lublin and Łódź, makes it an attractive investment region. Communication with the largest centers in the country is ensured by a very good road and rail network. The most important road routes are roads no. 7, no. 9, no. 12, no. 17, no. 42, no. 73, no. 74, no. 77, no. 78, and no. 79. The rail junctions in Kielce and Skarżysko Kamienna are of significant importance to the economy in the region, the station in Sędziszów and stations serving the mining industry and related processing plants: Rykoszyn, Sitkówka-Nowiny, Małogoszcz and Ożarów. Air transport is based on the airport in Radom and the communication airport located in Masłów near Kielce.

Advantages and successes of the Starachowice SEZ:
  • a significant part of the area is based on highly developed branches of the steel, metal, machine, building materials, ceramics, foundry and energy industries. The following industries are also developing: construction, trade, transport, fertilizer and chemical,
  • due to the natural beauty and other cultural values of the area, the tourism and recreation sector is developing well,
  • the agricultural sector also plays an important role in the zone,
  • regional smart specializations in the area include, among other things: resource-efficient construction, metal and foundry industry, health and pro-health tourism, modern agriculture and food processing, information and communication technologies (ICT) and others.

  • The total amount of capital expenditure incurred by all the companies operating in the Zone, since its start until now: PLN 3.1 billion of capital expenditure
  • Total employment in the Zone: 10,000 jobs created
  • Leading sectors: ceramic, metal, chemical, automotive
