
Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS
Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS is at present one of the most attractive investment areas in south – eastern Poland. AEROPOLIS is based on the idea of attracting modern companies and new technologies and exploration of local universities and R&D institutions.
The park is the first park in Poland that is focused on one type of industry. The park will continue the long lasting aviation industry tradition of the region. The park will be linked with aviation industry in R&D and business area.
Location AEROPOLIS
The park is located 10 km from the centre of the city of Rzeszów - capital city of the Podkarpackie Voivodship which is a significant communication junction of:

No 9 national road that connects Rzeszów with Warsaw

No 19 national road that connects Rzeszów with Lublin and North - Eastern part of Poland,

in the near future in the distance of 2 km from the park an A4 motorway will be located which is one of the most important European transport corridors and S19 express road, which will connect South and North of Poland. The nearest motorway junction will be located few kilometers on the East from the park.

Moreover, the park is located near international Airport Rzeszów - Jasionka, which has the longest runway in Poland after Okęcie Airport in Warsaw and all types of airplanes can land here. The airport is the eastern most airport of the European Union and the only civil airport in south-eastern Poland.
The park is neighbouring with E30 railway.
All products manufactured on the area of AEROPOLIS can reach their buyers by air, rail and road transport.

The most important element of the offer of the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park are fully developed investment areas and premises of Academic Preincubator.
 Academic Preincubator
S1 zone is adjacent to Rzeszów - Jasionka International Airport, which is located 10 km from the centre of the city of Rzeszów and is the only civil airport in south-eastern Poland. On the S1 zone of the park which is adjacent to the airport investment areas were created where aviation industry is a preferable business activity. In addition, the development of electronic, electromechanical and IT industry is anticipated in this area. Rzeszów University of Technology, the biggest university of technology in south-eastern Poland, will provide a scientific and research base for these industries. Dynamic development of advanced pilot training techniques is anticipated in the area. The development will be based on Rzeszów Aviation Club and Aviation
S1 zone is conveniently accessible as it is connected with national roads No 19 and No 9, voivodship road No 869 (road connecting the zone with the airport) and a road connecting the above mentioned national roads. The planned motorway will be located in the South from Rzeszów - Jasionka Airport and the A4 motorway will be situated in the vicinity of the S1 zone. In addition, access to express road S-19 Via Baltica from S1 zone will be convenient. The zone covers 70 ha and is divided into 35 plots, which are owned by the local self-governments.

S2 Zone is the zone of Enhanced Business Activity located next to Rzeszów in Głogów Małopolski Community at a distance of 5 km from the international Rzeszów - Jasionka Airport. The zone covers 47 ha and can be conveniently accessed form the South with national road No 9. In the zone companies from less technologically advanced branches, in comparison with S2 Zone, will invest i.e. chemical industry, plastic materials industry and biotechnology. Especially small and medium size enterprises from Podkarpackie Voivodship are interested in investing here. Companies from the zone will cooperate with Rzeszów University of Technology and University of Rzeszów.
The investment areas in the S1 zone are owned by Głogów Małopolski Community.

For companies that locate their investment in the park there are numerous potential benefits. Companies located in the park can obtain exemptions in real estate tax and local fares, moreover due to incorporation of the park into Special Economic Zone EURO-PARK Mielec the companies can be granted the right to corporate income tax exemptions up to 70% of invested capital. A prestige of investing in such an attractive location that was acknowledged my multinational corporations can be also important for a company. High concentration of companies from related branches of industry creates an opportunity of establishing a network of suppliers and cooperatives.
Investors are also supported by Rzeszow Regional Development Agency Co. and in particular two of its departments i.e. Inward investment Centre that offer support for all investors who decided to set up their business activity in the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS. The support will include assistance during the process of obtaining administrative and legal permits required to commence a business activity. The steps in the process of obtaining the permits are described in detail in “Investor Guide” that presents information about investing in the park. Technology Transfer Centre that supports development of innovative companies and co-operation between the area of science and the area of business activity. The Technology Transfer Centre will play a key role in the process of implementation of new technologies in companies located in the park. It has to be underlined that all investment in AEROPOLIS have to be highly innovative, well qualified workers have to be employed and all rules connected with environment protection have to be fulfilled. The environment protection is very important issue in the region as it is characterised by beautiful and unpolluted landscapes. Next important unit is “Miastoprojekt” highly-regarded and experienced design office which provides services in buildings design.

Future
Development plans of the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS include broadening of the activities that support development of innovativeness in Podkarpackie Voivodship. It is planned to construct 5 scientific laboratories including laboratories for aviation industry. There are plan to equip further about 50 ha of greenfields with total infrastructure for future investors, which will increase the investment area of the park from the present 123 ha (developed during the first stage of the project) to over 170 ha. There is a possibility of further land development in AEROPOLIS for investors’ needs.
Plans for future include building of a Technology Incubator and Centre for Management of the park, which will facilitate commencement of business activity in the park as well as providing support for companies already conducting business activity in the park. The Incubator will support development of small and medium size enterprises in the area of modern technologies. It will at the same time provide a place where new business entities can be established and will provide logistic, organizational and informative support. For investors production halls and office space will be available. Centre for Management of the park will streamline the process of entering new companies to the park as well as their cooperation with the business environment.
All investment will be implemented Turing second stage of the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park AEROPOLIS development. The project was included in indicative investment plan of Development of Eastern Poland Operational Programme 2007-2013.
