Stage of development:
Lodz Regional Science and Technology Park has existed since 2003. The area, which it now occupies, Technopark moved in the summer of 2007. This was possible thanks to the completion of the building of £ód¼ Technology Incubator, in which part of the offices took park administration.
Currently the Technopark occupies 14 hectares of land allocated for investment.
Technopark directs its offer, on the one hand, to all companies, regardless of time of activity, as well as scientists interested in commercializing their research.
£ód¼ Technology Incubator takes young companies, that make their first steps in business, interested in modern technologies, as well as people, who have an idea for their own business.
SSE status:
Signed an agreement with the £ód¼ Special Economic Zone - is the first step to cover the area with the privileges of a special economic zone.
Location:
Lodz Regional Science and Technolology Park area covers up to 14 hectares. It is located at Dubois 114/116 Street in the green, quiet part of £ód¼. Despite this, journey by car to the city center takes only fifteen minutes, while to the international airport at Lublinek only five minutes.
Park offer:

Our offer is addressed to newly established high-tech companies. £ód¼ Technology Incubator was created in order to give them the best conditions for development. Here they can reduce their initial costs and focus their activities exclusively on creating business solutions, improving services and searching for clients.
Companies that join entered £IT will have the following low-cost services guaranteed:

In addition to this, for companies wishing to build their own headquarters in Technopark, we have many investment plots, which can be leased. The whole area is part of a local development plan, that is aimed at developing services, light industry and hotel buildings.
In January 2011 the Laboratory of Individual Medical Implants was established at Technopark £ód¼. It provides medical consulting services and offers image processing in the field of diagnostic imaging (computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging) and the creation of virtual models of various anatomical structures and pathological changes. This process can included such pathology as bone tissue defects, tumors and vascular anomalies (aneurysms, vascular malformations). Next, on the basis of these virtual models three-dimensional physical models can be built using a precision rapid prototyping technique.
Currently, the Laboratory makes anatomical models of the orbital cavity [eye-socket]. To create such models, mirror images of the healthy eye-socket are used and on the basis of these bone tissue defects can be reconstructed. The surgeon performing the operation manually forms titanium mesh on the model, creating a custom implant which then is used during surgery. The result is a individual implant based on the patient`s own anatomy. This operating method is clinically more effective in the elimination of visual disturbances than traditional methods, while significantly reducing the need for reoperation, and considerably reduces recovery time and largely eliminate the risk of any complications.

Orbital models are created from a certified material, which allows their safe using in the operating room and safe contact with human body and body fluids.
With time Technopark will gradually expanded its range of an atomical models and implants for use in neurosurgery, orthopedics, dentistry and other branches of medicine.
Plans
In 2010-2013, as a part of Innovative Economy Operational Program, operation 5.3 "Supporting innovation centers", a new complex will be built on the premises of Technopark £ód¼. It will be known as BioNanoPark, due to the nature of the research that will be conducted there.
Our Technology Incubator will also be extended and we hope to incorporate a further 50 young enterprises.
The extended £ód¼ Technology Incubator will consist of:
-
office space for 50 new companies,
-
4 office-laboratory modules for spin-off and spin-out companies,
-
conference room for 300 participants,
-
buffet providing catering for conferences,
-
foyer providing exhibition space.
The BioNanoPark complex will consist of the following laboratories:
A. THE MOLECULAR AND NANOSTRUCTURAL BIOPHISICS LABORATORY, which will conduct research on the influence of nanomaterials on human health and the environment. The laboratory will also investigate new, inexpensive generic drugs and therapeutic agents, as well as determine the biocompatibility of materials for biomedical applications.
B. THE INDUSTRIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY, where technology solutions will be developed for the production of new or refined unique enzymes, as useful instruments for food, textile, chemical, pharmaceutical, paper industry, as well as, biofuel production. In addition to this the laboratory will research new products such as: biomaterials, enantioselective chemicals, nutraceutics, prebiotics and cosmeceutics.
Both of the laboratories will provide research services for micro, small, and medium businesses, as well as research-science institutes. Thus, Polish entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to do research at every stage of their product or technology development.
BioNanoPark will be able to certify products in these two labs in accordance with EU guidelines, which will increase its competitiveness.

Companies operating in the Technopark zone
At present there are 15 companies operating in £ód¼ Technology Incubator. The industries they represent are: computer science, renewable power sources, healthcare, telecommunications, internet, consultancy.
Examples of the companies:
w4e Wind Energy Center is a comprehensive project to support local authorities (investors) in the construction of wind farms. W4e is the only company in Poland, that combines wind turbines in hybrid systems with photovoltaic solar panels, biogas systems, municipal waste incineration and geothermal sources.
Analytical R & D provides services for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food production industries, developing analytical and validation methods as well as technologies for new products. It is also offers solutions to problems in different areas, in particular analytical chemistry, liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas (GC) and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS).
