The Euro-Center Science and Technology Park is located in The Śląskie (Silesian) Voivodeship. It  belongs to the group of the most industrialized regions in Poland and is known for dynamically developing economy. It is well located in a hub of European transport corridors. It possesses numerous natural resources that, among others, comprise: hard coal, zinc, lead deposits and natural gas beds. Human resources of metropolitan Katowice (a capital of The Śląskie Voivodeship) comprise about 4 milion residents and 37 universities. Favorable climate for investors provides it ranks first in the investment attractiveness rating.

Sectoral profile

The subject matter of its activity and core interest is developing technologies of recovering energy from alternative sources and its conservation in buildings.
The Park cooperates with research centers and institutions located in Southern Poland, it has founded and organize works of the Euro-Center Cluster of Energy Efficient Technologies which inspires a co-operation between entrepreneurs and scientists.

One of the crucial elements of the Euro-Center Science and Technology Park is the construction of an innovative building that is the example of implementation of modern technologies of acquiring energy from alternative sources and its conservation in buildings.  Thanks to the cooperation with domestic and foreign partners, the first stage of the project provides for the construction of a building that  uses only one third of energy in total; the remaining energy is obtained solely from renewable sources. Next step provides for works on the construction of totally passive building that shall be fully energy-efficient. The park's entrepreneurships include also launching specialist laboratories, measuring and calibrating apparatuses.

Offer of the Park

The Euro-Center Science and Technology Park offers four types of services: infrastructure,  training seminars, specialist consultancy and financial support.

Infrastructure

The Euro-Center Science and Technology Park provides for the establishment of special rooms adapted for the needs to test the equipment and devices that use the renewable sources of energy and enhance the conservation thereof.  This includes, inter alia: measurement laboratories, implementation and certification laboratories (measuring apparatuses, specialist software, certifying devices, other implementation devices, hardware), as well as exhibition rooms, conference and training rooms, logistics and technical support rooms.

The building that seats the laboratories is going to be one of the examples of using the energy saving technology in construction industry - the building shall be a pilot project that has been successfully implemented on Austrian market. The facility shall be energy-efficient, i.e. it shall use the thermal energy sources coming from solar light and soil for the purpose of heating and cooling.

The Euro-Center Science and Technology Park support creating and development of companies based on innovative ideas in the area of saving energy in buildings as well as renewable energy. It offers financial support which encompasses the stage of research and analyses of the project, and then creating an enterprise based on an innovative solution with capital engagement of the Park.
