China-Poland Production Capacity Cooperation Forum
On 14 July, on the occasion of the visit of the president of Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation (CPSSC), minister Lu Xinhua in Poland, the China-Poland Production Capacity Cooperation Forum was arranged. The meeting was hosted jointly by: H.E. Xu Jian, Ambassador of China in Poland as well as PAIiIZ president Bartłomiej Pawlak.


Ambassador Xu Jian: Chinese investment have already created 14,000 new jobs in Poland

“Poland has an image of a reliable partner that creates good conditions for business development”, argued Mr Pawlak of PAIiIZ talking to the Chinses officials and companies. The forum was arranged to promote Polish - China cooperation that recently has gaining momentum after the winter visit of the Polish president Andrzej Duda in China, and last month’s revisit of president Xi to Poland.

The meeting was attended by Polish and Chinese companies that represented such sectors as: banking, textile industry, production of cables and wires, electrical equipment, medical equipment, production and sale of cement, road and rail infrastructure, construction and real estate, water treatment, agriculture, tourism, cultural exchange, learning the Chinese language, the pharmaceutical industry. Go Africa: Mission to Kenia and Tanzania ahead
“I welcome progress in some parts of Africa with a growing optimism”, said PAIiIZ president Bartłomiej Pawlak during a workshop for Polish companies that will join the business mission to Kenia and Tanzania on 16-22 July 2016. The mission will be headed by Polish deputy minister Radosław Domagalski- Łabędzki.

Among the main highlights of the mission there are business conferences in Nairobi and Dar el Salaam, that will be arranged by PAIiIZ and local business partners. The Polish delegation will also meet representatives of local administration and will take part in B2B session for Polish, Kenia and Tanzanian companies.

As Pawlak said, Polish government is increasingly involved in development of export policy. That is why,  the Polish Development Found (Polski Fundusz Rozwoju) has been created. It will gather all incentives and  programmes in one stock shop supporting Polish companies  in their export activity. The workshop was arranged by PAIiIZ under GoAfrica programme. (PAIiIZ)

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

187 investments in the pipeline, 33 completed
In the past two weeks, the list of investment projects completed with PAIiIZ support increased by two positions. Currently, the Agency is working on 187 projects with a total value of €3.8 bn, which can generate 43,317 new jobs.

The majority of ongoing investment comes from the United States (50). There is also a growing interest in Poland by companies with German and Swiss capital (24 and 12, respectively), but also those from Poland. Currently, PAIiIZ runs 10 Polish investments with a total value of €200m that in total declared to create 1,120 new jobs in the country.

New projects in Kraków SEZ
The Kolejowe Zakłady Nawierzchniowe Bieżanów implements "the Switcher" while Lajkonik increases the production.

Bieżanów will spend over PLN 30m to buy the Switcher technology and set up at least 40 new jobs. “The Switcher” is an advanced system for the logistics of railway turnouts.

Also the food producer Lajkonik Snaks is investing in new technologies to increase the production of salty snacks. The company is planning to spend PLN 31.8 m to develop its plant and create at least 30 new jobs. (KPT)

Workshop on how to invest in South Africa
On Monday, 18 July, PAIiIZ invites all to join the workshop on investment opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal - the eastern province of the South Africa.

During the workshop, experts of the Trade & Investment KwaZulu Natal Agency will provide all with information on the most promising sectors of this South African province. One will also have the opportunity to learn how to start doing business there.  B2B  session of Polish and African companies will also be arrange at the meeting.

DID YOU KNOW...?

Poles won the European Athletics Championships
With six golds, five silver and 1 bronze medals, Poland toped the medal table at the 23rd European Athletics Championships. It is the first time in the Polish history when the Polish team took over all competitors of the championships.

The gold  went to Anita Włodarczyk, who on Saturday night threw a hammer at the distance of 78.14 m. The title of the champion also went to: Robert Sober (pole vault), Piotr Małachowski (discus throw), Angelika Cichocka (1500 m), Paul Fajdek (hammer) and Adam Kszczot (800 m).

Silver medals were won by Karol Hoffmann (triple jump), Joanna Linkiewicz (400 m hurdles), Michał Haratyk (shot put), Marcin Lewandowski (800 m) and team for the 4x400 m relay men: Łukasz Krawczuk, Kacper Kozlowski, Jakub Krzewina and Rafał Omelko. Bronze medal in the hammer throw went to Wojciech Nowicki. In total, the Poles won 12 medals.
