Autumn with 16+1 in Warsaw
“This autumn in Warsaw, the founding meeting of the “Secretariat of 16 + 1” will be held” - informs, from China, PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman. The Chinese side has already invited all Members of "Warsaw Initiative" for the event.

The decision to organise the founding meeting of the “Secretariat 16 + 1” was made during the Contact Mechanism Meeting for the Investment Promotion Agencies of China - CEE Countries that is currently held in Xiamen, China.

The initiative called “Group 16 + 1”, gathering China and 16 countries from CEE including Poland as the biggest member, was established in April 2012 during the visit of the recent prime minister of China Wen Jiabao in Poland. Its aim is the increase of the inflow of Chinese investments to Central and Eastern Europe.

Designed in Poland exhibition visits Zagreb
On 12 September, the 21st Designed in Poland exhibition will be opened. This time Zagreb in Croatia hosts this prestigious event organised together by PAIiIZ and Trade and Investment Promotion Section of Polish Embassy in Croatia.

The 21st “Designed in Poland” exhibition is held in Avenue Mall Zagreb. This prestigious event project is being organised in various countries by PAIiIZ since 2005. The “Designed in Poland” exhibition presents and promotes Polish modern art and design including fashion, jewelry, ceramics and industrial design.

Every edition of the event gathers many visitors as Poland is becoming one of the most influential European players in the field of design. Polish project win the most prestigious design awards while designers from Poland cooperate with global brands and create their own brands gaining success all over the world. Last autumn, the 20th Designed in Poland in Rome was visited by 1,000 guests per day and widely appraised in Italian press.

The highlight of every Designed in Poland event is the contest for the most interesting piece at the exhibition. Every visitor who will take part will receive gifts sponsored by PAIiIZ.

Optimism of employers is a fact
29% of surveyed companies admitted that in the next six months they plan to increase the employment. This is 3 percentage points’ growth compared to the previous quarter and the best result in nearly five-year history of the survey.

62% of surveyed entrepreneurs confirm that now financial situation of their companies is good or very good. It is companies representing financial sector that predominate in describing their situation as positive (82%). Only 8% describe their situation as bad or very bad. The increase of employment is most frequently projected by larger companies, employing at least 250 people (34%).


“A record percentage of employers who plan to employ new people in the nearest future is the reason to believe that companies see the improvement of the economic situation. According to the vast majority of the surveyed companies, proposed changes of labour code should not affect the level of employment in companies.

Results of the 23rd Survey made by Research Institute Randstad and TNS Poland was presented at the conference which took place on 10 September.

A survey on investment climate in Poland
PAIiIZ invites you to take part in the survey on investment climate in Poland. The final report will be based on the opinions of companies with foreign capital operating in Poland.

New investors in PAIiIZ portfolio
Next FDI project have been added to PAIiIZ portfolio. Currently, the Agency runs 170 projects with a total value of €3,240.3m. Due to the implementation of them all, 36,722 new jobs will be created in the future.

United States dominate in terms of the country with the biggest number of FDI in Poland. Actually PAIiIZ supported 53 American investment projects with total value €960.9m. Thanks to them 8,240 new jobs should be created in the future. Next is Germany with 25 projects, worth €374.55m and 6,525 new jobs. On the following places there are investors from United Kingdom and France (11 each), India (8 projects) and China (7 projects), as well as South Korea and Sweden (6 projects each).

BPO maintained the position of the most popular sector among investors supported by PAIiIZ (39 projects; total value €31.4m, 11,755 planned new jobs). It is followed by automotive (30 projects) and R&D (16 projects), aviation (12 projects) and electronic and wood (7 projects each) projects.

Since the beginning of the year, 32 investors decided to locate the capital in Poland with PAIiIZ support. In total, they will invest €1,718.24m. They have also declared to create 6,180 new jobs.

BioNanoPark in Łódź
The worlds first digital laboratory for special science issues will be established in Techno Park Łódź.


Analyzer of Chemical Processes (source: ŁRPNT)

Analyzer of Chemical Processes (ARUZ) - is currently being implemented in Techno Park Łódź. It is a giant and one of the world’s first devices to provide advanced chemical research faster then ever. It can shorten the time of chemical analizes from month to days. This is parallel simulator based on dynamically reconfigurable processing elements, dedicated for modeling complex virtually-unbounded systems. ARUZ will be a main part of Molecular Physics Departments in currently build BioNanoPark in Technopark Łódź. The project has been designed by Łódź Technical University and financed by the UE under. UPS invests in Poland
UPS plans to hire 300 people and invest $25m by establishing two new investment projects in Poland.

The US based giant announced intentions to establish new parcel sorting hub in Stryków. The second investment will take place in Łódź, where the business process service centre will be opened.

Both cities were centres selected by UPS because of its central location and proximity to many national business centres. In addition the site offers an excellent transport infrastructure, which allows for further refinement of UPS network connections. (UPS)

The Poland - Zambia Forum, that was to be held on 15 September in Novotel, Warsaw, has been canceled.

Aviation industry in Poland
On 22 September PAIiIZ is organising a conference focusing on aviation industry in Poland. The meeting will be held at the Hotel Europa in Lubin.

Poland-Korea Economic Forum
PAIiIZ took the patronage over the Polish-Korean Economic Forum. The meeting will be held between 29 and 30 September at the Marriott Hotel in Warsaw.

Participants of the forum will discus investment opportunities of Poland and Korea, bilateral economic relations in the areas of trade, investments and public procurement. Korean companies participating in the Forum represent such sectors as: infrastructure, environmental protection, energy and ICT.

Common success! 25 years of Polish-American economic relations
Under the patronage of Ministry of Economy and PAIiIZ, American Chamber of Commerce in Poland, KPMG has published the report summarising the 25 years in American investments in Poland.

Poland is the major target for the US investments in Central and Eastern Europe. The United States has invested nearly $2.5 trillion across Europe, of which at least $29 billion came to Central and Eastern Europe. The biggest recipient of American investments in CEE is Poland where the value of direct investments in 2012 was $14 billion.

78 % of American investments in Poland are in the services sector. 69% of the surveyed companies made reinvestments in Poland. “Poland is a paragon of stability and reasonable economic policy. American companies appreciate the safe business environment, and this drives so many of them to bring subsequent projects to Poland”- PAIiIZ president Sławomir Majman comments on the report.

During the last 20 years Poland from the foreign recipient country investment has become an investor. While the total value of Polish investments in the US is relatively low, their dynamic is growing since 2010. Currently in the US thwew are among others: Zortrax, Game Technologies, KGHM, Inglot, Com.40, HTL-zone, Selena Global Experience. (KPMG)

Export is still strong
According to preliminary data of GUS, foreign trade of Poland is getting stronger. After 7 months of 2014, exports from Poland went up by 5.5%. Also imports rose by 4.4% y/y.

The value of exports in the first seven month of 2014 reached €93.9 bn while import was €94 bn. As a result, the trade deficit decreased to about €170 m while in the same period of 2013 it amounted to €1.1 bn.

In January-July period significantly better results were noted in trade with developed countries, where exports increased by 7.4% (to €78.5 bn) and imports by 2.7% (to €61.4 bn). So did the exports to the EU - the improvement by 7.4%.

The decrease of balance of trade was recorded with less developed countries, as a result of a decline in exports to the CIS (by 12.7%), including Russia (by 10.5%), Ukraine (by 26.5%) and in Belarus (by 1.5%).

In cross mark the increase in exports was recorded in light industry sector (by 13.6%). The growth of sale of electromechanical products (by 6.9%), food and agriculture (by 6.3%) and wood and paper products (by 6.2%) was faster than the average. (CSO/MG)

Education Zone Cluster
In Kamienna Góra SEZ a first in Poland, Education Zone Cluster has been created. It will support the adaptation of education offer to the needs of local companies.

For several years KSEZ has been a partner in supporting the implementation of a dual vocational training. This initiative allows students to select the proper path of education and career. The cluster will help to fulfill the needs of local labour market by tailoring educational offer to various expectations of employers. ("Mo-Ja" Multimedia)

Gold for Polish rover
Scorpio 4, a Mars rover created by students from Wrocław University of Technology won the first European Rover Challenge by beating 9 competitors from all over the world.

This is a double success of Poland. Not only the award went to Poles but Poland hosted this exclusive event that for the first time was held outside the US (in Podzamcze Chęcińskie in Świętokrzyskie Province). Congratulations!
