NEWS Polish National Exhibition in Tashkent - May 25th - 28th PAIiIZ encourages all interested in the Exhibition to attend the Uzbek-Polish Business Forum organised by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency in Tashkent on May 26th, 2011.
The Polish National Exhibition will be attended by around 30 Polish entrepreneurs representing various sectors. The event enjoys the honorary patronage of the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, Waldemar Pawlak and the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Eljor Ganijew. The Exhibition will coincide with the 4th session of the Polish - Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation and the Polish-Uzbek Business Economic Forum in Tashkent. The Forum, which will take place in Tashkent on May 26th, is organised by PAIiIZ, the Polish Ministry of Economy, the Trade and Investment Promotion Section in Tashkent, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Economic Cooperation, Investment and Trade and UZINFOINVEST. During the Forum guests will have the chance to learn more about investment opportunities in Poland and Uzbekistan and take part in presentations of several Polish companies. The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the City Council of Ełk encourage entrepreneurs and representatives of local administration units to take part in the meeting which will present the Programme of Economic Promotion of Eastern Poland on May 23rd, 2011.
The meeting will present promotion opportunities offered by the Programme of Economic Promotion of Eastern Poland. Participants will have the chance to learn more about the events, fairs, conferences, study tours and trade missions attended by entrepreneurs and administration officers from Eastern Poland which were financed from the programme and about promotion events which will take part in the second half of the year. Participants will also get an insight in the ways of establishing and maintaining economic cooperation with foreign companies and learn more about the investment offer of Ełk. (PAIiIZ) PAIiIZ invited Chinese journalists to visit Poland The journalists met with the PAIiIZ President Sławomir Majman on May 15th, 2011.
The journalists started to tour Poland on May 14th and will stay in the country till Saturday May 21st. The group consists of journalists from the China Central Television, China Economic Weekly, Shanghai Evening Post and eastday.com/finance.
During their visit the group will have meetings with people from government institutions, higher education institutions and representatives of Polish cities and regions in Warsaw, Cracow and Łódź. During the meetings Polish regions will provide information and data on business opportunities available in Poland. The major aim of the visit is to provide the Chinese public opinion with reliable information on the country’s economic situation and presentation of possible fields where the countries could develop economic cooperation. The panel, organised on May 16th, 2011 and chaired by PAIiIZ President Sławomir Majman, gathered J.E. Sun Yuxi, the Chinese Ambassador to Poland; Dominik Radziwiłł, Deputy Minister for Finance; Dariusz Szymczycha, Communications and PR Advisor; Janusz Jankowiak, Chief Economist at the Polish Business Roundtable; Łukasz Krawczyński, President of Management Board of CNR Cargo Wagon; Jarosław Myjak, Deputy President of PKO BP and Adrian Furgalski, the Transport Consultants Group "Tor". Poland has undoubtedly been attracting attention of Chinese investors. What is now important for those interested in Poland is to find good investment environment - adequate economic, legal, financial and political conditions. - I want to assure all our partners that Chinese investors respect foreign regulations and are reliable partners in business - said Ambassador Sun Yuxi.
Panelsist gathered at the discussions paid attention to the importance of the political climate and its influence on economic relations. Dariusz Szymczycha emphasised that Polish-Chinese relationships have entered a new phase and are now developing beyond the old stereotypes. The relations are now more normal and dynamic. - We have to keep the proportions in mind. China has been pursuing its own policy which depends on their interests. That is obvious. In turn, during EXPO in Shanghai Poland was presented as a country open to China but we still have no direct flights to China. Undoubtedly, even despite some misunderstandings and obstacles, the number of Chinese development projects in Poland will be growing. In his summery of the meeting PAIiIZ President Sławomir Majman stressed that Poland as a country with an “open door” approach towards Chinese investors stands a chance of becoming one of the major gateways for Chinese business in Europe. (PAIiIZ) Poland - the European BPO centre Poland can attract even the most advanced projects because investors are ready to pay for well-qualified people and the highest quality of products. And this is a new trend. PAIiIZ organised a panel on Poland and BPO during the 3rd European Economic Forum on May 17th in Katowice.
The panel was chaired by Iwona Chojnowska-Haponik, Head of the Foreign Investment Department at PAIiIZ. Among panelist there were: Paweł Adamowicz, President of Gdańsk; Marek Cieślak, Deputy President of Łódź; Daniel Habrat, Member of the Capgemini Polska Management Board; Teresa Kamińska, President of the Pomerania Special Economic Zone; Teresa Korycińska, Director at the Ministry of Economy; Alasdair Nicolson, Director at Shell Business Service Centre; Paweł Tynel, Head of Section at Ernst&Young and Piotr Wojaczek and President of the Katowice Special Economic Zone.
During the panel experts discussed development directions of the modern services sector in Poland and debated about Poland’s position in the sector as well as the country’s condition as a place for the most modern projects in the field e.g. LPO KPO MPO. Panelist discussed also the importance and attractiveness of things which tend to play the most important part in choosing an investment destination. Among the most important were human resources, education and knowledge of foreign languages. Among those which are now gaining in importance there were communication in various forms, IT infrastructure and real estate. What really counts is the opinion of players who have been present on a given market and have experience with local conditions as well as issues connected with co-financing and subsidies. All the experts agreed that human resources, flexibility and multi-language staff are of utmost importance in planning a BPO sector development strategy. (PAIiIZ) INVESTMENTS IN POLAND B4 Group to launch an investment in the Industrial and Technology Park in Płock The Group signed an official agreement.
The B4 Group’s new manufacturing and office facility of the total area of 11 320 m2 will be located in the 3rd zone of the Industrial and Technology Park in Płock. It will consist of a production floor, office space and a social building. The investment worth PLN 23 mln will be completed by the end of 2011/beginning of 2012. The facility will focus on providing production, trade and customer services to the construction sector. The project is expected to generate 200 jobs. Source: www.nbp.pl FROM THE REGIONS World biggest ships every week in Gdańsk This week Maersk Elba, one of the world’s biggest ships, entered the Gdańsk container terminal. This is a real milestone in the history of the Gdańsk’s port and the Baltic Sea.
DCT is the first and at the moment the only terminal in the South Baltic Sea region that attends the biggest world containers. Maersk Line ships with the capacity of 13 092 and 15 500 TEU will be entering the Gdańsk port as a part of the AE10 service which connects the Far East with Central Europe. - DCT Gdańsk is making history by hosting, for the second time in 16 months, the world’s biggest container ship - says proudly Mr Boris Wenzel, Managing Director of DCT. - This connection is a result of the high quality of service that we provide to Maersk Line as well as the increasing importance of Gdańsk as a gate leading to the Central and Eastern Europe. And this is only the beginning of the extraordinary story of DCT container terminal, MAERSK and the Polish-Asian cooperation - in these words Eivind Kolding, Mearsk Line CEO, began his speech. The opening of the new intercontinental marine connection will bring many benefits not only to the port and Gdańsk, but also to the whole region. Projects of this kind substantially help develop communication infrastructure and new industry brunches. In January 2011 DCT Gdańsk revolutionized the Baltic Sea market by being the first port to start the oceanic container handling services at the Baltic Sea. The position of Gdańsk as a leading port in the South Baltic Sea region was strengthened not only by the increasing container market in Poland but also by the dynamic development of Maersk Line, the largest client of the terminal.
