It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in a conference entitled "American Investments in Poland - chances, successes, challenges”, organized by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency. The conference will be held on the 2nd of June 2011, at 10.00 a.m., at the PAIiIZ Information Centre.

The aim of this event is to exchange experiences regarding American investments in Poland and to discuss PAIiIZ’s role in increasing the attractiveness of Poland’s offer to investors.

Seminar: Opportunities related to activities of international aid organizations

The seminar will take place on June 8th, 2011 at the PAIiIZ Information Centre.

The seminar will be focused on projects financed by The World Bank that would require supplies, construction and advisory services offered by private sector. Current and future projects will be presented and the rules of their implementation explained, including the contractors selection procedures.

The seminar will take place on June 8th, 2011 at the PAIiIZ Information Centre in Warsaw, Bagatela 12 Str. Participation is free pf charge.

Eastern Poland on the Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai

During the event Polish delegation had the opportunity to hold business meetings, establish contacts and exchange experience with potential Arab partners interested in investments and cooperation with Poland.

The mission of the Polish delegation, which took place from May 7th to May 13th, 2011, was organised by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) within the framework of the “Programme of Economic Promotion of Eastern Poland” financed from the EU Operational Programme - Development of Eastern Poland 2007-2013.

The Annual Investment Meeting, the biggest Dubai investment event organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates under the patronage of the Minister Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, gathered investors, experts in finance, project managers, decision makers and representatives of business and politics.

The Polish delegation included entrepreneurs from the yachting, automotive, aviation and food sectors as well as representatives from the special economic zones and owners of tourist and recreation centres operating in Eastern Poland. Among the delegation’s participants there were also representatives of local administration, including Heads of Polish regions and Presidents of cities and towns.

During the event Poles coorganised a lecture and a discussion panel about the Polish economy and investment opportunities in Poland with special focus on the investment offer of Eastern Poland. Poland’s 200m exhibition stand presented regional food products e.g. šakotis, new types of flavoured meads, cheese and jams made of wild berries. At the stand the Polish delegation presented also the Leopard Automobile, a sports car produced in Poland, which attracted a lot of attention. In fact, the stand was the biggest on the fairs and the organisers awarded the stand’s creators for the perfect preparation of the stand and their active participation in the fairs.

Moreover, during the visit to the United Arab Emirates, the Polish delegation met with the UAE Minister for Foreign Trade, Ms Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi. During the meeting participants discussed possibilities concerning economic development in sectors of key importance for both countries and talked about mechanisms which boost investment dynamics.

Representatives of 20 Polish companies took part in a match-making session in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry with 8 Arab companies and visited the Khalifa University of Technology in Abu Dhabi, several Arab companies and the Jebel Ali Free Zone. (PAIiIZ)

The biggest outsourcing conference in June in Warsaw

The joint Roadshow and ABSL conference will take place on June 17th, 2011.

The aim is to discuss current trends and directions of the sector’s development in Poland. This is going to be the biggest outsourcing event in Poland with representatives of business, government and media.

The event will be combined with II Conference of the Association of Business Service Leaders in Poland (ABSL). The patronage over the joint Roadshow and ABSL project will be provided by the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the Polish Chamber of Commerce. This is the first outsourcing project of this size carried out by two leading organizations acting for the benefit of the modern business service sector development in Poland and improving the investment attractiveness of Poland.

One of the major topics of the conference will be the position of Poland on the global map of business services. During the conference ABSL will make public its most recent report concerning the modern business service market in Poland and in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The report includes the scale of employment and types of processes in the sector as well as analyses major service centres locations in the region. This year, for the first time, the analysis covered not only Poland but also other countries in the region. (ABSL/Roadshow)

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

200 new jobs in the Łódź SEZ

New investors declare to run projects jointly worth PLN 254 mln.

BSH Sprzęt Gospodarstwa declared to increase its Łódź-based production of clothes dryers. The company plans to buy new technology lines worth PLN 38 mln and create 20 new jobs. This will be the company’s third development project located in the Łódź Special Economic Zone.

Procter & Gamble was granted the company’s fifth permission to expand business activity in the Łódź Special Economic Zone. The project envisages creation of a modern assembly line producing shavers for women in the concern’s Gillette facility located in the Łódź district of Nowy Józefów. The project will generate 50 new jobs and will contribute to the maintenance of the existing 850 jobs. To date the company invested over PLN 1.5 bn and created nearly 2.5 thousand jobs in Łódź, Aleksandrów and Warszawa.

L-Correct wants to open a facility in Ociąż and create 100 jobs. The company’s new facility, worth PLN70 mln will be located in the Nowe Skalmierzyce subzone, will produce new generation foam and wire for the furniture industry. The new factory will be constructed in the direct vicinity of the investor's other factory run by CORRECT - K Błaszczyk i wspólnicy Spółka Komandytowa. The company met all the requirements which classify the project as an innovative project. In fact, the latex foam will be a completely new product on the Polish market. The investment project will thus increase the competitiveness of Poland’s economy and will make Polish producers of mattresses and upholstered furniture independent of foreign suppliers (usually from France, Italy, Belgium and Spain). CORRECT - K. Błaszczyk i wspólnicy Spółka Komandytowa was granted two business activity permissions by the Łódź SEZ - in 2006 and in 2008. To date the company has invested PLN 281 mln and created 994 jobs.

Albéa Poland will expand its production activity and install a new production line in its Łódź-based facility. The company will invest PLN16 mln, create 10 new jobs and maintain the existing 200 jobs. Cebal Tuba Albéa Poland is Poland’s leader in plastic tube packaging production. (Łódź SEZ)

Laboratoria Natury in Mielec

Laboratoria Natury to create 50 jobs and invest PLN 8 mln in the Mielec SEZ.

The company wants to buy a plot located within the Lublin subzone of the SEZ where the investor plans to construct a facility measuring 1800m2 with adequate infrastructure. Laboratoria Natury will also purchase a computer management system and innovative technology lines for the production of fluid and tablet nutrition supplements. Innovative technology solutions will help the company introduce new products on the market. The company was established in Lublin in 2001 and since that time has been producing nutrition supplements. The company has been distributing products in Poland and exporting abroad, among others, to Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. The company is the leader in aloe products on the Polish market. (ARP)

Partners in Progress and Zielona Budka to expand their operations in Mielec

The companies will invest PLN 13.4 mln and will create 63 jobs.

Partners in Progress declared to hire 43 persons and Zielona Budka plans to create 20 new jobs and maintain the current level of employment i.e. 175 people. Partners in Progress plans to establish its new IT systems production and development facility. The facility will cost PLN 5.4 mln and will be located on a plot in the Trzebownisko sub zone of the Mielec SEZ. Partners in Progress which is originally headquartered in Rzeszów is active in the field of production and implementation o f a variety of IT systems which provide assistance in the management of higher education institutions.

Zielona Budka, which has been producing ice creams in Mielec since 1998, plans to develop its production floor and increase its production capacity as well as expand its product offer. In the newest business activity permission the company declares to invest at least PLN 8 mln. (ARP)

  • Polish economy to accelerate?

    This year the Polish economy is estimated to grow at the rate of 4.2%, the average annual inflation is expected to reach 2.9% and unemployment is estimated to amount to 9.2% by the end of the year - shows the European Economic Advisory Group's latest report on the European economy. Cities’ attractiveness map based on Newsweek weekly magazine, May 2011

Piła and the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone start cooperation

The city and the SEZ want to create a subzone in Piła.

The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Piła - Mr Piotr Głowski and the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone representatives - Mrs. Teresa Kamińska, President of the SEZ and Mr. Józef Adam Bela, Chief Operating Officer.

The sub-zone would cover 21.8ha of grounds owned by the city. The mentioned area was in 2010 awarded by PAIiIZ in the 4th edition of the nationwide investment grounds’ contest as a very attractive place to invest. It is worthy emphasizing that this year Piła was recognized as the most business-friendly city in the north-western Poland by Newsweek, one of the biggest weekly magazines in Poland. The city ranked 1st in Wielkopolska region and 14th in Poland. The ranking was based on 28 different criteria such as: price of land, premises lease cost, tax rates, business services cost, city budget expenditures planned for 2011 per capita, labour market indicators, average salary and communication infrastructure. Piła effectively combines moderate business-related costs and attractive investment opportunities. (Piła City Council)

Pomeranian entrepreneurs awarded

Pomeranian businessmen have been awarded an “Economic Griffin” statuette for 12 years now. There are different categories for micro, small, medium and big entrepreneurships. The award is one of the most appreciated regional economic prizes.

This year’s “Economic Griffin 2011” winners will be revealed this Friday, May 27th. The awards will be granted to four companies selected out of twelve nominees in micro, small, medium and big entrepreneurships categories. The aim of this contest is to promote enterprise and economic activity of companies active in Pomerania.


Economy Griffin 2011

The companies competing for the “Economic Griffin” statuette are selected by local entrepreneurs. Each company’s achievements, favorable financial results, business transparency and honesty as well as its impact on the image of region of Pomeranian and developmental possibilities were taken into account.

This year’s edition was organized by the Pomeranian Business Council. (investinpomerania)
