How to understand the food market in China - training on the food market in China
- China is much closer to us than we thought and the food market offers us a great opportunity to improve the trade balance - said the President of PAIiIZ, Mr Sławomir Majman, at a training course for entrepreneurs dedicated for the food market in China.

As Mr Majman said, Poland has became an empire when it comes to exports of processed foods - the European food industry performs increasingly better with the Chinese market - he commented.

Mr Adam Brożek, Head of the Department of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Development believes that the Chinese market is a very good direction for Poland. - Polish food is associated with clean food - he explained.

During the training course, which was attended by more than 120 companies, the experts also talked about the specifics of the food market in China, including its size and consumer preferences. Samuel Liu from the China Nutrition and Health Food Association told Polish businessmen about food niches in China, technical barriers regarding the market access, certification procedure and related costs.

BSS sector in Poland grew by more than 15%
- Employment in the Business Support Services Sector (BSS) grew by more than 15% in 2015 - said the President of PAIiIZ, Mr Sławomir Majman - Outsourcing plays the dominant role in the PAIiIZ’s portfolio.

The Agency is currently working on 165 projects where 73 are investment projects in the BSS sector, which contribute to the employment of 16,000 people - he added.

In the past 10 years the number of projects from the services sector in the PAIiIZ’s project portfolio grew consistently. In 2004, services projects only represented 5% of the total projects which were completed with PAIiIZ’s assistance. Nowadays services projects account for 50% of projects undertaken with help from PAIiIZ. Services has been at 50% for several years now, especially if we take into consideration the creation of job places.

The year 2015 was marked by a particularly rapid increase in the number of IT projects with a high degree of diversity, both in terms of supported sectors and types of processes. What's more, some Polish cities with recognizable position in the world like Kraków, Warsaw or Wroclaw are strictly followed by the Tri-City, Poznań and Katowice. - The geography of the centres is subject to change, there are more and more of them in smaller places - commented Mr Majman.

Polish business prepares to participate in a fair event in Ningbo
The participation of the Polish entrepreneurs in the China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo - a fair dedicated to the Central and Eastern European countries - was the main subject of the meeting between representatives of the Zhejiang Province’s Trade Department headed by Mr Zhou Ri Xing, Director General and Mr Sławomir Majman, President of PAIiIZ.

The Zhejiang Province is one of the richest regions in China with the highest purchasing power and a great potential for imported goods. Polish companies invested nearly 16 bln USD in the province in 2015.

Mr Zhou Ri Xing invited Polish entrepreneurs to participate in the fair and emphasized the fact that the Chinese are interested in imports of technologically advanced goods, as well as health food. The head of the delegation was also promoting the China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo event in Ningbo (one of the biggest ports in China) which will be held in June this year, as well as another fair dedicated to the food sector which will be organized in November 2016.

China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo is the biggest trade event within the 16+1 cooperation initiative. PAIiIZ participated twice in the event and organized economic missions of the Polish companies. We hope that, similarly to the previous years, Poland will play an important role in this key event for the 16+1 Central and Eastern European Countries and China cooperation initiative - said Mr Majman. Without Poland the 16+1 initiative would not exist, as Poland represents 40% of the economic potential of the region.

PAIiIZ is developing its cooperation with the regions. It is time for Zawiercie
- Zawiercie’s investment offer is very well prepared and the town should develop further towards the development of small and medium size entrepreneurship and regional re-investments - said Mr Michał Dąbrowski, Member of the PAIiIZ Management Board, at a meeting with the town’s authorities and local entrepreneurs.

At the meeting, representatives of the Zawiercie’s Development Agency presented the investment areas and development plans of the local Economic Activity Zone. We hope that this meeting will mark the start of our fruitful cooperation with PAIiIZ - said Mr Witold Grim, President of Zawiercie.

Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore in PAIiIZ
Mr Sławomir Majman, President of PAIiZ held talks with HE, Dr Loo Choin Yong, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Poland. The meeting was dedicated to the support of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting Mr Majman put a strong emphasis on the assets of the Poland’s economy and focused especially on the country’s strong economic base, skilled and qualified personnel, access to investment areas as well as investment incentives.

- Poland occupies the 1st place in the CEE region as the most attractive investment location and also the 1st place in terms of the volume of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) - said Mr Majman - We also hold the 2nd position in the CEE region and the 3rd position on the continent in terms of created job places thanks to FDI in 2014 - he added.

- Singapore is a model country which offers ideal conditions for running a business activity - said HE De Loo Choin Yong, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Poland. The Ambassador talked about the potential of the Singaporean economy which results from its strategic location, economic and political stability and positive conditions for running a business activity.

Singapore, after Japan, is the most developed country in Asia. Its economy is strongly based on services which account for 68,7% of GDP. Singapore has the world’s 3rd largest port and is perfectly linked with other Asian markets in terms of infrastructure and institutional relations. (PAIiIZ)

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

Ursus has found new business partner in the Middle East
Ursus S.A. signed an agreement on 8th March 2016 with the MOTORSAZAN of Iran Tractor MFG Co. with headquarters in Tabriz (Iran). The company belongs to the Tractor Manufacturing Company ITMCO group. According to the agreement of value of more than 5 mln USD, components for the assembly of the Ursus’ tractors will be purchased.

On the basis of the agreement, Ursus will purchase components for the production of a wide range of tractors which will be dedicated to external markets. The supply of the components will begin in March 2016 and will last for 6 months. Ursus will open a letter of credit for its supplier. The value of the agreement exceeds 10% of the Ursus’ ownership capital.

- The agreement for the purchase of the Iranian components is a starting point for new perspectives in the Middle East. We offer full range of products - small and large tractors, as well as full range of equipment. What is also significant, is that besides tractors we are also producers of about 80 models of agricultural machines like trailers and front loaders. Economic mission to Hungary
PAIiIZ invites entrepreneurs to take part in the economic mission accompanying the official visit of the Polish President, Mr Andrzej Duda, to Hungary.

March 18-19, is in the framework for “Polish-Hungarian Days of Friendship“, President of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda will pay an official visit to Hungary. On the second day of the visit a Hungarian-Polish Economic Forum is going to be organised (Hotel Sofitel in Budapest, 9.00-15.00). After the forum a B2B session is scheduled.

Participation in the mission and in all events is free of charge. PAIiIZ will provide local transportation for the business delegation. Accommodation and flight tickets are to be covered by participants.

Automotive CEE Day
The third edition of the Automotive CEE Day under the patronage of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) is going to take place on April 14-15th in Opole.

This meeting should facilitate establishing cooperation between purchase departments of the automotive producers and the potential subcontractors.

During 2015 edition of the CEE Day participants took part in more than 500 meetings. This year participation was confirmed by such companies as Volkswagen Poznań, PSA Slovakia, Polaris, Plastic Omnium (Slovakia), Gestamp (Spain), Gedia and Sanden.

New investment permit in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone in Grudziądz
Sits Industry sp. z.o.o., a furniture producer from Brodnica, will start to operate in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone (PSEZ).

SITS is a company with more than 20 years experience in designing and producing upholstered furniture. More than 700 000 armchairs and sofas are being produced in the SITS factory each year. Polish furniture production tradition combined with the Swedish design are the recipe for the success of the SITS on international markets.

The investment project, which is being released on the area of 13 ha in the Grudziądz Subzone, assumes construction of the new production facility. The production hall is going to be equipped with all the necessary processing lines and machinery. The company also plans to build a modern high bay warehouse, which is going to secure the warehouse needs of the facility.

The project will cost almost PLN 60 mln. After completion of the project at least 520 people will be employed. The investment is scheduled to be finished on December 31, 2022.

Olan Południe - the new investor in Głogów
Olan Południe invests in Głogów. The construction and road maintenance materials producer received today a permit to conduct economic activity in the Głogów Subzone of the Legnica Special Economic Zone (LSSE). This is a first investment permit to be issued this year in Głogów. This is also a success of the „S3-The Road of the Great Opportunity Project“, which is being led by the Legnica Special Economic Zone.

Olan Południe is going to invest at least PLN 2.5 mln. It will also create new working places in the region. The company produces construction and road maintenance materials.

- Głogów is the ideal place for our company. We have a very good access to the construction site of the S3-road and other road investments in the region. As the one of subcontractors of the S3 project, we decided to use a convenient localization of Głogów and the support offered by the city and the LSSE. With our new investment in Głogów we can expand our offer also to the South-Western part of Poland - says Mr Grzegorz Rzeszut, Member of the Board of the Olan Południe.

Olan Południe investment is the first investment permit to be issued this year in the Głogów Subzone of the LSSE. The company plans to start production in Głogów before the end of this year.
