We need to learn Asia - Day of the Asia-Pacific Region in the Sejm
The role of Asian countries in Polish foreign policy and the opportunities of economic expansion in Asia were discussed today in the Parliament during the Day of the Asia-Pacific Region by representatives of the state administration, politicians and scientists. The meeting was attended by deputy president of PAIiIZ Krzysztof Senger.

During the meeting, Mr Senger declared that the Agency will provide help for all Polish exporters, including for those on the distant markets as Asia. “Within the Agency’s new foreign offices, we will support companies offering them the complex law and consulting service”, he said.

LG Chem starts constructing EV battery plant in Poland
One of the world's largest manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries, LG Chem, has just started the construction of its first plant in Europe producing batteries for electric cars. Under the investment that will be located near Wrocław, in Kobierzyce community, more than 700 new jobs will be created. The project was supported by PAIiIZ.

“Several years ago, the car batteries were associated with children's toys. Today, we start the investment, which will allow Polish engineers to turn their knowledge into high-tech products. Together, we can create innovations and develop electro-mobility in Poland”, deputy prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki told during a ground-breaking ceremony, which took place on 5 October 2016. Morawiecki also stressed Poland’s openness for foreign investments. “First of all, we want to attract the investments that are the source of innovation”, he said.

LG Chem plans to invest more than PLN 1.3 billion in the facility by the end of 2018. (MR/PAIiIZ)

VG Poland with new production line
In the Van Genechten Packaging Group plant in Chełmek (malopolska region) a new packaging production line has been launched. The inauguration ceremony was attended by heads of VG Polska, Ambassador of Belgium in Poland Colette Taquet, Marshal of the Małopolska Region Jacek Krupa and president of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) Tomasz Pisula.

Van Genechten Packaging is a Belgian family-run industrial group based in Luxembourg. It consists of 10 plants specialising in the production of cardboard packaging for, among others, food and chemistry industry. The company owns plants in 10 countries, but it is in Poland, where the investor decided to start one of the largest and certainly the most modern production line.

New investor in Zawiercie
VIRTU Production will invest PLN 60m in the Business Activity Zone in Zawiercie and will create130 new jobs there.

This will be the second production plant of VIRTU Group. The company plans to complete the building process of a 15,000 sq. m facility by June 2017. (SAGZ)

Outsourcing Breakfast in Poznań

FDI Poland Investor Awards
For the fourth time, on 20 October, FDI Poland Investor Awards will be held. PAIiIZ took the patronage over the event.

The 4th annual FDI Poland Investor Awards Gala and Forum recognizes top Foreign Direct Investors in Poland, and top Polish companies expanding abroad. The Awards will be given in 17 categories combined in two groups: “Inward Investment by Foreign companies to Poland” and “Outgoing Investment by Polish companies expanding abroad”.

200 international guests - top executives in charge of investment decisions related to Poland are expected to be present at the event. The Chinese Embassy's Economic Counsellor Liu Lijuan will be a KeyNote Speaker of the Forum that will precede the Gala.

IT industry and education in Wrocław
Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency has issued the report presenting the IT market in the city. It shows size of the local IT market as well as the expectations of companies towards employees and the education offer. PAIiIZ took the patronage over the report.

Polish IT Market is the second biggest after Russia, in the CCE region. There are over half million programmers working in Poland, and IT professionals are one of the most wanted employees on the local employment market.

According to the report, Wrocław occupies a special place on the Polish IT map, with over 200 IT companies and 20,000 IT professionals employed in the city. Wrocław is the third biggest academic centre in Poland. In 2015, there were 124,440 students studding in 26 universities in the city, 9 schools provides faculties for future IT specialists.

The survey also shows that the leading IT specialty in the city is programming. It is offered in 69% of surveyed companies, 44% of companies are providing IT consulting and services, while 1/3 of them sell IT products. Moreover, 24% of IT companies in the city are developing R&D activity.

The spot promoting Poland in Latvia
Latvian film producers from „Woodpeckerpictures” studio came to Poland to shoot advertising film promoting Poland as an attractive place to live, work and study.

The advertising spot is a part of the promotional campaign of Polish language in the mass media and social media in Latvia, which is led by the Polish Embassy in Riga. The campaign aims to encourage young people in Latvia - including those with Polish roots - to came to Poland to study, and make their first steps in business. In the spot, young Latvians will also be invited to Poland by deputy minister of economic development Jadwiga Emilewicz to grow their start-ups here.

To show Poland from the most attractive perspective, both, the Embassy of Poland in Latvia and PAIiIZ have chosen many interesting places to be filmed. They all show how a modern, dynamic and full of opportunities Poland is. The film will present such places as: National Stadium in Warsaw, University of Warsaw Library as well as Adam Mickiewicz University and School of Form in Poznań. The film crew also visited a unique, newly open co-working space called the BrainEmbassy as well as the European leader in the production of buses and trams: Solaris Bus & Coaches.

Soon the film will be shown in the Latvian public television, social media and in schools in Latvia. (PAIiIZ)
