ANALYSES AND REPORTS

World Bank forecasts trends for 2016
According to the World Bank Global Economic Prospects 2016, the economic growth in 2015 was lower than previously forecasted by the Bank, reaching only 2,4%. However, 2016 should bring economic recovery at a level of 2,9%. The report also proves that Poland starts the year with very good position.

The faster rate of this year’s world economic growth is said to be influenced by the recovery in developed economies, as well as stabilization of the so-called the major exporting countries. These forecasts may, however, be threatened by growing economic problems of the developing countries of Asia, mainly China, as well as geopolitical instability in North Africa and the Middle East.

In contrary, the region of Europe and Central Asia is performing very well and should develop by 3% in 2016. It is much above the 2,1% the region achieved in 2015. This significant growth will be driven by the countries of Central and Eastern Europe including Poland. Our country has been defined by authors of the report as one of the leaders of growth in the CEE. Poland’s GDP should rise by  3.7% in 2016 and by 3.9% in 2017 and 2018. (World Bank)
