INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

36 projects in 30 weeks
List of investments completed in 2016 with the PAIiIZ support has grown to 36 positions. The total value of all projects successfully closed exceeds EUR 396m, while the number of new jobs declared by the investors is higher than 7,500.

Currently, PAIiIZ is working on 180 projects worth over EUR 4 bn in total, which can lead to the creation of 46,179 new jobs. Among the projects managed by PAIiIZ those with American capital dominate (51 investments with a total value of EUR 821.6m). The second are German companies (23 investments), which - at the same time -  lead in terms of the total value of the projects (over EUR 1bn). Also companies from Poland were listed in the top five  - PAIiIZ currently runs 9 Polish projects with a total value of over EUR 192m. Polish investors declare to create 1,085 new jobs.

Two business permits in Pomerania SEZ
Wyspa Ostrów in Gdańsk that since recently is governed by Pomerania Special Economic Zone gain the first investors - Montex Shipyard. Also, SPG Polska joins the group of investors in the zone.

Pomerania SEZ is revitalizing the shipyard area in Wyspa Ostrów to prepare it to new investors. The first one, Montex Shipyard, has just started to operate there. The company is to create a production plant assembling large steel structures. Montex cooperates with such Polish shipyards as Stocznia Gdańsk, Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa, as well as with partners from Norway, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The business permit also went to the SPG Poland, specializing in printing on laminates, foils and paper used in the production of packaging for the food industry. The company intends to equip its plant in a new production line and thus increase the production capacity. SPG Poland also plans to hire additional 5 employees.

Since the beginning of 2016, the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone issued 8 permits which may provide jobs for over 450 new jobs and  the total value of investments amount to PLN 115m. (PSEZ)

3rd SMEs Congress of The Visegrad Group countries
On 21 at 9:00 in Liptovsky Mikulas (Slovakia) 3rd SMEs Congress of The Visegrad Group countries will be arranged.

The congress will be focused on the issues related to road infrastructure and logistics their impact on export of SMEs sector. The meeting will be divided to panel discussion, also a business mixer will be arrange there. The access to the meeting is free of charge, after registration by zahrza@za.scci.sk.

£ód¼ - in the eyes of investors and employees
Antal and the £ód¼ City Hall made a survey of the business image of the city. The result of the analysis were reported in the "£ód¼ city of modern technologies" document. It shows that the technology companies define £ód¼ is a good place to recruit specialists. On the other hand, the IT professionals look at this city as a place to live and work with increasing  interest.

As the study shows, £ód¼ is changing its image and economic profile towards a hub of high-tech due to education base, attractive salaries as well as the access to skilled professionals and IT managers. Employers highly value the educational potential of the city. In £ód¼ as a place to study for 81,000 young people. Nearly 22,000 of them graduates from local universities, annually. A start in a working life of graduates is supported by many programmes, such as “M³odzi  w £odzi”.

Compared to other Polish high-tech centers, £ód¼ can compete due to lower costs of work that is an important factor in the investment attractiveness of the city. Salaries of professionals and IT managers are about 15% lower there than in the other regions of Poland with qualified workforce. The average salary of IT professional in £ód¼ ranks at PLN 11,800 (gross), the report says.

On the other hand, employees are offered lower cost of living, which was clearly indicated by the surveyed respondents. The report also shows that 15% of surveyed IT professionals from across the Poland would consider moving to £ód¼, and working there for companies that invest in innovative projects.

FROM THE REGIONS

PLN 750m for industrial innovators
National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) will invest 750m to support innovators from outside Mazowsze.

The co-financing will be available within the so-called "fast track" round. NCBR will reduce the formalities to minimum as well as the decision making process to approximately 60 days. In addition, the application can be submitted by website. PLN 674m are waiting for scientists and micro & small companies from outside Mazowsze planning to develop innovation for industrial sector. The rest of the budget can be acquired by innovators from Mazowsze. NCPR expects that the beneficiaries of the project will have a chance to become a power engine of innovation in their local centers.

The support can be obtained for the development of products for business development and to strength the company's competitive position. The subject of project must go along with the list of Polish “Smart specialization".  (NCBR)

Accelerator of computer games created in Poland
Industrial Development Agency (ARP), together with the University of Silesia and Cieszyn appointed ARP Games accelerator that is to support Polish video games start-ups.

The main task of the ARP Games is to provide financial support and mentoring to start-ups operating in the video games area. ARP Games will focus primarily on the support of the commercialization of good projects which has been designed in Poland and can be developed here. Ten of the best creative video game designers’ teams will be awarded by ARP Games with a three-month business training.

According to ARP, in  the next years global game sector will be developing very dynamically. Only in Poland there are over 150 companies creating video games. They most often operate in: Mazowsze, Ma³opolska and Silesia. (ARP)

DID YOU KNOW...?

Getting older is good in Poznań
Poznan has become a member of WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities. The membership is given by World Health Organization to award cities for their activity towards making seniors’ life easier. Poznań is one of 300 cities in the world and the second city in Poland, after Gdynia, associate in the Network.

“Seniors should not be treated as persons who are allowed to stand to the side. They have great experience and potential. It is important to utilize it”, says Jacek Ja¶kowiak, mayor of Poznań.

WHO indicates that the primary objective of the Network is to help to create urban social environments tailored to the needs of older people, enabling them a healthy and active aging. Already, the value of projects implemented by the City of Poznań for seniors is estimated at PLN 100m. (UM Poznań)
