PAIiIZ during the Economic Forum in Krynica
Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) participates in the 26th Economic Forum in Krynica. In the Pavilion of the Ministry of Economic Development, PAIiIZ, next to the other companies and institutions affiliated to the Polish Development Fund, presents its activities and offer for companies interested in international expansion and investments in Poland. On 7 and 8 September.

In the Pavilion, guests of the Economic Forum in Krynica can learn about financial instruments and projects supporting Polish exporters and investors. Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) launched an information dedicated to the support for entrepreneurs, Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE) organizes bilateral business meetings, which allows to prepare individual offers supporting the companies' expansion. PKO BP meets in the Pavilion with their corporate clients. Industrial Development Agency (ARP) that has created ARP Games found, arranged "games area" in the Pavilion, while the Agency of Enterprise Development welcomes all guest to the debate together with EuGenius robot. Information are also provided by the experts of all institutions of Polish Development Fund: the Ministry of Development, PAIiIZ, BGK, PKO BP, PARP, ARP and KUKE, who are present at the information stand.

On 6 September, the opening day of the Economic Forum, the conference was held in the Pavilion with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Minister of Development Rados³aw Domagalski-£abźdzki and the head of Polish Development Fund Pawe³ Borys, where a new programme of international expansion support of Polish companies was presented.

US - Poland cooperation: debate in Krynica
The importance of the transatlantic relations, the benefits of Poland's cooperation with the US and Polish investments in the United States were the topics discussed during the "Transatlantic Business Bridge" debate, held on 7 September at the Economic Forum in Krynica. Head of PAIiIZ Bart³omiej Pawlak was one of the speaker invited by the Polish-American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (AmCham) that arranged the conference.

President Pawlak stressed that Poland Trade and Investment Agency, which creation was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, will quickly respond and meet the investor’s needs. The new agency will offer comprehensive support in the international expansion of Polish companies, including consulting, analytics, as well as the full spectrum of services and financial tools offered by the Polish Development Fund (PFR), where the New Agency will belong.

PAIiIZ already actively works for the promotion of Polish companies in the investment process in the United States. For companies interested in expansion into the US market, the Agency proposes localization consulting, analytical and financial support, and soon - also a direct support abroad during sights visits, offered by a new office in San Francisco. (PAIiIZ)

Republic of South Africa - the major African partner of Poland
Poland has much in common with The South Africa. Both are young democracies with leading position in their regions, strong and reliable economies and fast developing BSS sector - said Morris Mthobeni of University of Pretoria during the workshop dedicated to the cooperation between Poland and The Republic of South Africa. The event was arranged by PAIiIZ and Gordon Institute of Business Science University of Pretoria.

The Republic of South Africa is the most developed country in Africa - and the same time - the biggest Africa trade Partner of Poland. The economic cooperation between the two countries has been growing, especially since establishing programme called Go Africa by Polish government that has been implemented by PAIiIZ since four years. In 2015, the turnover between RSA and Poland reached $813m, including $576,6m of the Polish exports to the South Africa. Only in the first half of 2016 the Polish exports excided to $276m.

What products are offered by Polish companies to South African consumers? According to the data by Ministry of Economic Development in Poland, the trade is dominated by accessories for office machines (61.3% of the total Polish exports).

INVESTMENTS IN POLAND

Fujifilm opens its first European Share Service Centre in Gdańsk
Fujifilm has announced the opening of its first European shared services centre, which will be located in the Olivia Business Centre (FEBS) office complex in Gdańsk. From 1 September, the centre has begun to implement processes for Fujifilm in Europe, mainly in finance, procurement and human resources sectors.

In the coming months FUJIFILM Europe Business Service will look for both experienced experts and fresh university graduates in areas of: finance and accounting, human resources, procurement, and customer service. All candidates should speak English, however for certain positions knowledge of German, French, Italian and other European languages will be an asset. FEBS intends to become an open company for student internships and junior class employees, that would like to develop their professional skills in an international environment.

“The news about opening Fujifilm’s new centre is yet another great information for Gdańsk and the local labour market. It confirms that we are an attractive business location for global companies, looking for qualified employees who are able to perform in a demanding international environment for top employers”- said Andrzej Bojanowski, deputy Mayor of Gdańsk.

InduComp Industrial Components
The management board of the Kraków Techno-Park issued a business permit to InduComp Industrial Components to operate in Zakliczyn sub-zone. This is the first investor in this sub-zone.

Operating since 2008, InduComp Industrial Components is planning to build a factory and equip it in machinery to produce the industrial accessories. The total value of investment should reach $7m. The company will also employ new staff there.

“The decision to locate this project in Zakliczyn shows that the idea of establishing even special economic sub-zones in a distant places is good. It allows companies especially with Polish capital to use all business incentives offered within the SEZ programme”, say representatives of the Kraków Techno-Park.

In 2016, KTP has already issued 18 investment permits with a total value of PLN 560m. Due to them about 800 new jobs will be created. (KTP)

ICT companies mission to Japan
Registration to the mission to Tokio in Japan has just started. It’s made for ICT firms interested in investing on the Japanese market. The mission is organized by JETRO - Japanese External Trade Organization will take place on 23-28 Oct 2016.

During their stay in Japan, participants will have an occasion to participate in: Japan IT Week fair and sectors seminars. They will also go through a number of meetings in popular IT firms and will be introduced to the JETRO external investors services. Polish entrepreneurs will also visit the JETRO business centre (IBSC), Yokohama and will participate in the business dinner organized by Polish Embassy in Tokyo.

Deloitte Europe 500
Polish companies are in great shape and grow faster than others in the region, proves the latest "Europe 500" ranking by Deloitte Poland. As Deloitte's expert Tomasz Ochrymowicz comments, 2015 was a time of economic recovery for most countries in Central and Eastern Europe, what resulted in upturn in revenues.

According to the EY’s experts, 2015 was a year of records regarding the inflow of investments to Europe. Over 5,000 new FDI projects arrived there. This is the third consecutive year of growth of investments in the continent. All new projects has generated over 218,000 new jobs. As a year earlier, among the biggest beneficiaries of the new FDI there are: the United Kingdom (1,056 FDI), Germany and France.

It was also a year of records for Poland. Over the last year, 211 FDI projects have been successfully completed in the country. This is the same number as in Belgium, and at the same time the best result among all Central Eastern European countries. It is also worth to stress that the region improved the efficiency of investment inflow by 34% y / y. The most impressive results of Poland was achieved in new job creation (19.651 new jobs). Not only was the country the best in CEE but it also jumped into the second position in this category in the whole Europe.

As the authors say, the power engine of investments in Central Eastern Europe is manufacturing sector. It generated 69% new jobs last year. In Poland, every second investment was implemented by the industrial sector.

Employment plans on record level
The employment market is in high gear. According to just published survey of Randstad HR agency, even 37% of companies operating in Poland are interested in creation of new jobs in the country in the nearest half of a year.

The results of the survey show that still there is a good environment on the recruitment market for those that are looking for new jobs. This tendency is especially visible in Share Service Sector (SSC/BPO) and in the whole industrial sectors, where the will to employ has been declared by about 50% of employers (50% and 43% respectively).

“Comparing year to year, there are 26% more completed investment projects including a significant 5-fold growth of completed investments in business services sector (BSS)”, commented PAIiIZ president Bart³omiej Pawlak. BSS together with automotive and B&R sectors have generated 75% of newly created jobs. This is a good information for those professionals that are considering development of their carrier within those sectors”, Pawlak added.

The survey also show that, now the it is a perfect moment for employees, but also challenging situation for employers. Only one third of them is able to find a proper employee qualified enough to fulfill the needs of the company.

PLN 7.2m for improving the vocational training
Authorities of ¦l±sk province will spend PLN 7.2m to improve professional qualifications of young inhabitants of the region. Thanks to a joint initiative of the Katowice Special Economic Zone SA, the Silesian local governments and investors, more than 450 students and teachers will be able to benefit from the programme.

As a part of the Start-in Poland, the company will receive assistance not only in the incubation and business acceleration, but also during the further development and international expansion. The Ministry expects that over the next seven years, 1,500 new high-tech companies basing on design, IT and engineering solutions will be developed in Poland and ready to compete in foreign markets.

The Star-in Poland programme opens Polish large companies, including State-owned ones to stat-ups by investing in them. Under the programme the experts will look for Polish and CEE talents, know-how and innovations that can be implemented in the State-owned companies. Both, young entrepreneurs from the region will be recruited in the formula of the contests. (Ministry of Development)

Students from Nigeria are designing the app in £ód¼
Nigerian students that have come to £ód¼ to study computer science are working on a join project that aims to help to change the IT market in their country.

Thanks to the cooperation between the University of Information Technology and Skills in £od¼ and Babcock University in Nigeria, since two years few groups of students from Nigeria have come to £ód¼ to study programming and take practice in Polish companies. As part of the holiday internship in LIKI Mobile Solutions, Nigerian students are creating the application that will match developers in Nigeria with foreign companies looking for IT professionals to outsource service to them. The app will be also a kind of network and a basis of reliable business contacts in Nigeria. This unique project should stimulate the growth of Nigerian market of IT services. However, still, the country reports a lack of IT specialists, including software developers.

DID YOU KNOW...?

Do citizen of Europe like their capital cities?
Do inhabitants of capital cities of the UE countries like their cities? This question was asked by Eurostat within the flagship publication "Urban Europe - statistics on cities, towns and suburbs". It tuned out that the satisfaction from living there is getting higher in most of the cities, including Warsaw.

According to Eurostat, in 18 EU capitals, at least 9 out of 10 inhabitants were satisfied with life in their city. The highest satisfaction levels were found in the capital cities located in the north of the EU. The top position is held by Vilnius, where 98% of the population was satisfied with life in their city, closely followed by Stockholm and Copenhagen (97% each), as well as Vienna and Luxembourg (96% each). In Warsaw, 94% people are glad that they live there. It is an improvement by 3 percentage points comparing to the former results of the survey. This evaluation made Warsaw the 8th best EU capital city for their inhabitants to live in.

So what cites are most complained about by their inhabitants? It seems that they have one feature in common: they are very popular tourism destination. The lowest satisfaction levels were found in Athens, where 71% of the population was satisfied with life in their city, followed by Rome (80%), as well as Bucharest and Paris (83% each).
