Husqvarna opens its 1st factory in Poland

Husqvarna opens its 1st factory in Poland.

The Swedish investment, which cost almost EUR 25 million, was located in Mielec, in the Podkarpacie region within the Mielec Special Economic Zone. The official opening was attended by representatives of local and central administration.

Husqvarna is the world's biggest producer of lawn and garden equipment, and cutting equipment for the stone and construction industries. It took only 9 months to build the new factory in Mielec. The plant produces high-end products, among others, rider type lawn mowers and traditional mowers which meet requirements of the European market. In 2011 the Polish Husqvarna factory is planned to produce 80 000 machines. At the moment the facility manufactures equipment for Husqvarna and Jonsered but this summer production will be expanded and the plant will also produce lawn mowers for Klippo (for the Swedish market).

Krzysztof Wardęga - Managing Director of Husqvarna Poland

For Husqvarna Poland is one of the most important markets in Europe. For this reason the company's activities in Poland, concerning product distribution and equipment servicing, will now be expanded and will include production of selected equipment. Mielec, where the factory is situated, is a favourable location both because of its industrial climate and for distribution purposes. The investment is also our response to the growing global demand on equipment for lawn care. We believe in the potential of the Polish market and we do hope that it will soon acquire a strategic position in our European production and distribution system said Krzysztof Wardęga, Managing Director of Husqvarna Poland during the opening ceremony. The project cost EUR 25 million and is expected to generate 240 workplaces. (Compress)

FROM THE REGIONS

Silesia, intelligent, energetic

Poland, Europe and the whole world have to address the issues of energy security and access to energy. Also, the EU energy and climate package makes EU countries limit emission of CO2.

The significance of efficiency in energy usage and energy security for the improvement of a country’s economic competitiveness is unquestionable. Yet implementation of policies on efficient energy usage on a Union- and nation-wide basis require involvement of numerous people and institutions which will have the will to really pursue the policies. Good efficient energy usage policies increase the attractiveness of companies in the long-run. In business circles it is the self-regulatory organizations that will be expected to play a special role and get engaged in the topic. That is why the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RIG) in Katowice organises a conference “Silesia! energetically intelligent” which will take place on April 15th, 2011 in the Euro-Centre (Katowice, 103 Ligocka Str. ). The energy efficiency debate will have a special significance in Silesia where energy-connected issues have always been of utmost importance. Hence, the aim of the event is to present the region as a place open to innovations, a region which is energetically intelligent.

The conference is organised under the patronage of the Minister for Regional Development, the Minister of Economy and the Minister of the Environment.
